Problems with cloud 12 hours ago?

Recommended Posts

It's now about noon Pacific Daylight Time. At midnight last night, msfs would not perform. DevMode showed tons of red spikes in the cpu window and stutters galore. I restarted the computer, restarted MSFS, checked task manager readouts, nothing helped. And when I shut down and rebooted the computer 3 or 4 times it didn't help.
So I shut it down again we went to sleep and got up and now about noon the next day (12 hours later), MSFS runs perfectly. I made no changes. Wish I knew what the problem was 12 hours ago. Perhaps the MS servers?

I agree one never knows what the cause of these sporadic changes and I'm always tempted to start to troubleshoot but you did the wise thing:  give it some time to fix itself.

Been lousy here (UK) most of the weekend. Lots of stutters. Often get this over a weekend here, given up until tomorrow.

Although I am signed in correctly into the xbox app, the game tells me it cannot verify my license due to an unexpected error hence i can only continue in offline mode. Will have to sit it out as well...... Very annoying.....

Had a couple of instances of "your bandwidth is not sufficient to stream pgotogrammetry and it has been turned off" whilst my bandwidth has been well over 140 mbs all day.

They should really change the word "your" to "our" in that warning.

I'm not sure how an IT organisation as big as MS can continue to have these issues which have been happening now for over 3 years and not reaolved them.

Honestly they are probably not interested with MSFS 2024 just around the corner.

I never had stuttering or performance issues even with using a little amount of FSLTL live traffic, just lately I have found the sim has not been great unfortunately. I just departed Stanstead in the 777 and was barely able to get 56 fps on the ground. It does get better in the air but even with my GSYNC TV I am getting way more stuttering than I ever used to get.

There is something definitely going on at MS/Asobo end, I just took off from London Stanstead in the PMDG 737 and it was a stutter fest at the gate and taxiing, now in the air I can barely get 68 fps (With FG) where as yesterday in the 777 I had 80 fps. I am curious to see what happens when I cross the channel into France. Maybe it is something to do with the last World update.

I do wish they would sort this out

Is it even possible to determine the extent to which these issues can be attributed to what's going on in the last mile, i.e., between our homes and our ISP vs. between the ISP and the CDN vs. between the CDN and the Azure cloud? And that doesn't even take into account that many MSFS users report using a VPN for one reason or another. How do we know who's at fault on a given occasion?

My own experience with MSFS networking has generally been very favorable, which may say more about the relatively fast connection provided by Comcast to my community here in Florida than it does about the Azure cloud and its associated CDNs. Or not. I really don't know. I'm just guessing here, but I would not be surprised if there was more variability in the quality of our local and regional networks than there is of the cloud service provided by MS. We recently signed a new contract with Comcast, and my internet connection, in general, seems to be working more reliably than it did previously, pretty much eliminating network interruptions in MSFS as well as other applications including streaming. Does anyone have data that demonstrates that the problem lies with MS and not somewhere else in the network chain?

I don't know. But I'm guessing sales are increasing for MSFS based on what Jorg and the Asobo leaders keep saying in their update videos.
