Flying gliders since 1980 Flightsimming since 1992 AMD Ryzen 5600x, 32GB RAM, GPU Nvidia RTX 3060 Ti 8 GB, 1 TB and 500 GB nvme2 SSD drives, HP 27" 60Hz LED monitor @ 1920x1080, T16000, Hotas from old X52 Pro, Saitek Combat Rudder Pro (2010 model)
August 8, 20241 yr Just made one flight... emmm... it's just like the default A330! which by any means... not bad! Ok.ok, it's 0.9 release and as the said, the only got few things in, turn on NAV looks good, but I didn't remember it was terrible in default one? fuel burn seems 10%+ higher than what I got on FCOM table but over all burn is close enough to simbrife, I don't care much about other artistic things yet... Their 1.0 aim looks promising, but still promise ye to be fill, let's wait and see. Actually we got yet another A333 overhaul from Vinci, IDK, maybe it's better to have different one, or maybe they should all join force to fully zibolize the A330. I think I'll spend 80 or more on Toliss A330 anyway....
August 8, 20241 yr Author @C2615, thx for the hint regarding the Vinci MOD... Giving that one a try ! Flying gliders since 1980 Flightsimming since 1992 AMD Ryzen 5600x, 32GB RAM, GPU Nvidia RTX 3060 Ti 8 GB, 1 TB and 500 GB nvme2 SSD drives, HP 27" 60Hz LED monitor @ 1920x1080, T16000, Hotas from old X52 Pro, Saitek Combat Rudder Pro (2010 model)

Vinci and AeroGenesis should join together and add both knowledge. Hopefully it will be the next Zibo but from Airbus
August 9, 20241 yr its a shame LR released their flagship aircraft the state they did, The fuel burns for example are just silly. Yet a bunch of kids can fix it in a few weeks.
August 10, 20241 yr just tried it on a long haul flight from LHR TO MCO. They got a lot of work ahead of them. That flagship a330 on all LR''s branding is in my opinion terrible. From problems with the fmgs, to problems with the autopilot, the fuel burns are completly off, not to mention it flies like a block of flats.. Good luck to them. We might as well wait for the pros at tolis to bring their 330 out, I feel this mod will be a lost cause and the interest will fizzle out. time will tell Edited August 10, 20241 yr by fluffyflops
August 10, 20241 yr It is true and it is very possible that this will happen. Everything will depend on whether AeroGenesis continues the development of the A330 and that not everyone can pay $90 for a plane. As I have said before and I hope it can be the next ZIBO but from Airbus.

Yet a bunch of kids can fix it in a few weeks. Flight testing an aircraft and tweaking performance is a very time consuming process and the only airliner rated member of Laminar's team only has experience on the 744 and 733. This leaves very little time for tuning performance in between real flying duties. And there is also the rest of the default fleet that needs to be set up and maintained. "Kids" or anybody with particular interest in a certain aircraft type on the other hand, have lots of time to tweak and modify things for more thorough FCOM compliance. 7950X3D + 7900 XT + 64 GB + Linux | 4800H + RTX2060 + 32 GB + Linux My add-ons from my FS9/FSX days
July 28, 2025Jul 28 I did not know this existed! Fair few updates (A330 v1.1.2r1) have been done now too. Time to try it out I feel. Releases · Coalition-of-Freeware-Developers/AeroGenesis-A330

July 29, 2025Jul 29 I did give this one a go. A lot of fiddling to get it to work and some of the so called engine mod changes just did not do it correctly (Textures etc). I concluded that apart from the texture work which is an improvement on the Laminar stock aircraft and a few small things here and there, that it was not significantly better than the Laminar A330 - which needs some work as is well known and addressed in this thread and elsewhere. Tried it and ditched it. Again a lot of fanfare but little in the way of changes since then. My conclusion easy to muck about with textures and the small things but hard to really get into the details of systems and performance etc. I do not use the Laminar version either why - the FMS system is in need of some serious work as is the whole standard GPS/FMS that Laminar provide and is used by many developers - to start with the AIRAC is hopelessly out of date and stuck in 2022. If I want an A330 then I would just get the Tolis A330 and live with the fact that it is the Neo version, it is the gold standard for an Airbus. Long haul other birds to fly with less problems.

Flying gliders since 1980 Flightsimming since 1992 AMD Ryzen 5600x, 32GB RAM, GPU Nvidia RTX 3060 Ti 8 GB, 1 TB and 500 GB nvme2 SSD drives, HP 27" 60Hz LED monitor @ 1920x1080, T16000, Hotas from old X52 Pro, Saitek Combat Rudder Pro (2010 model)
July 29, 2025Jul 29 I could be wrong but the AeroGenesis mod or version is like a lot of stuff that comes and goes in XP - the easy part is taking something already done and doing textures and small stuff but once you go down the route of internal scripts, systems and the way it all works (or doesn't) you soon find out lots of stuff that are a developers nightmare! Its easy to do the basics but after that you need in depth PC coding experience. The problems mount when the origins are not XP12 Native but XP11 (That is why there are so many abandoned XP11 models about). Despite Laminars glib assertions about XPlane Planemaker etc the develope manuals are out of date and not helpful and the continuous updates to XP12 make it even harder (Check out the Cowan developers thread on XPlane.Org for a brutally honest appraisal of the problems and challenges) I have seen this happen over and over again in XP - not the developers fault - they just underestimated the underlying complexity of this sim that's all - all that great immersion and fidelity is not free in terms of what needs to be done to harness it. I can see why Laminar have not really put a lot more effort into upgrades and fixes for the A330 - it is very time consuming and the trial and error effort is sometimes how to do they say in corporate speak - a challenge! Example I have spent several days with an XP12 problem child that was done by an enthusiastic amateur - had great potential. But the lights quickly became a horror show why? the way lighting was done for pre XP12 is very different now not to mention FMOD and other stuff! I tamed the lights but not fixed them completely that is a whole new rabbit hole of issues! Got the sounds working but some other stuff will just have to wait. It makes the Tollis work, FELS and XCrafts dedication to the sim all the more impressive!
