The quality is worlds apart compared to older TIN cities like e.g. Basel. It's nice to see how photogrammetry is getting better and better. Jörg confirmed that the new aerials are the same as in MSFS2024, which is a bit of a bummer, at least in the case of Switzerland. The new imagery may be more up to date than the current one, but unfortunately the aerials were taken at different times of the year and it’s therefore a bit of a patchwork with marked transitions between the different seasons. I don't quite understand why they didn't just stick with Swisstopo’s imagery. It's better and the latest version is even more up to date in some places. Agreed. Natural landscapes don't need constant updates (regarding imagery). Cityscapes are where they should focus their updates (IMO). BUT as Jörg said, Bing Maps isn't updating their data for MSFS, they have their own agenda, their own roadmap. Their updates won't always be better for us (Jörg apparently tries to redirect them to cooperate when possible). 9800X3D@H150i // Msi RTX 5090 Trio OC // 64GB DDR5 6000mhz CL30 // 2TB + 1TB Nvme Dell 27" 2127DGF - 1440p - Gsync - 165hz Thrustmaster TCA Sidestick Airbus // TCA Quadrant Airbus // TFRP T.Flight Rudder Pedals // Logitech Flight Multi Panel
August 15, 20241 yr I think it will work something like this: People who have previously purchased a lot of stuff from the marketplace, instead of from 3rd parties, will have much less space requirements when 2024 arrives. Because a lot of their packaged assets will be in the 2024 Official folder located in the cloud. And Microsoft will sort it there. Community folders will not be in the cloud for Microsoft to sort. Because Microsoft could not possibly sort just any asset. MS can only sort stuff in proper format. Stuff purchased in the marketplace will be previously tested and approved stuff and therefore in proper format. Community (out of marketplace purchases) will probably work like this: 2020 community folder and 2024 community folders cannot be identical!Because everything located inside a community folder is loaded when the sim boots up. Everything! You don't want 2024 version stuff to load into 2020 and vice versa. So you will need two community type folders. One for 2020 and one for 2024. And some of the folders inside each for the same asset will be absolutely identical. And some will not. For community assets, addon linker will reduce the size requirements because, for those assets where the 2020 and 2024 versions are identical, there need be only version on your computer which will be in your community addons folder of addon linker. Assets that have two versions, 2020 and 2024, would have a different folder for each version and will reside in one of the two community folders. 5800X3D, RTX4070, 600 Watt, one or two 1440p 32" screens, 64 GB RAM, 4 TB PCle 3 NVMe, Warthog throttle, VKB NXT EVO stick, Honeycomb Alpha yoke, CH quad, 3 Logitech panels, 2 StreamDecks, Desktop Aviator Trim Panel. August 15, 20241 yr I'm just saying (guessing) the Official folder for 2024 will be in the cloud. The Community folder for 2024 will not be in the cloud. 5800X3D, RTX4070, 600 Watt, one or two 1440p 32" screens, 64 GB RAM, 4 TB PCle 3 NVMe, Warthog throttle, VKB NXT EVO stick, Honeycomb Alpha yoke, CH quad, 3 Logitech panels, 2 StreamDecks, Desktop Aviator Trim Panel. Well of course, you are perfectly entitled to have your say and have your 'guess', and you could be close to the actuality of it, but with a few months to go, I am surprised we don't have the actual facts for something so important. I have now watched the stream, and on top of Martials usual and useless 'should, could, and maybe we will look into it', it is clear they are getting short on time for the November release. If they do release to schedule, we can expect it will be a work in progress with lots of stuff to follow later, as has been the case with 2020 really. The 2024 release will just be 'this is what we have for now'. But that has been within my expectations all along - it will be no shock for me. Rob (but call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind). He said, “We want people to be able to upgrade their planes to a 2024 standard, and when you do that, you have to keep the same name because we want the reference from one file to another to be preserved.” So the point is not that aircraft currently flying in MSFS are not compatible with 2024, but that if a developer wants to add features like banner towing, crop dusting, firefighting, skydiving and whatever else they have in stock, they will no longer be backwards compatible with 2020. Also, his comment was in response to the question of whether they will share the identical community folder to save space, but no one is stoping you from copying your community folder from 2020 to 2024. Sure, you are correct, I have watched the stream myself now. But I was replying to a post from Fielder, who stated "Many addons need to be upgraded to work well in 2024". Which was just another one of his 'guesses' by the look of it, and not fact at all. Rob (but call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind). I sure hope not. ^^^ A bug patch or 2 is fine, but 3 years of Early Access type release 'updates' with add-on developers constantly playing catch-up is not what I want at all. I'll sit this one out for 2 years if this is their intention AGAIN.
August 16, 20241 yr So we have undeniable proof that Xbox compatibility is keeping the PC version back again. iniBuilds could have added A300 features to the A310 but they can't because Xbox wouldn't be able to handle it 😕 5800X3D. 32 GB RAM. 1TB SATA SSD. 3TB HDD. RX 9070XT.

I understand what Microsoft is doing when they want parity between the two consoles, but it’s hurting the platform, not only for MSFS. But it is selling more than the series X, so it’s hard exclude it. 9800X3D@H150i // Msi RTX 5090 Trio OC // 64GB DDR5 6000mhz CL30 // 2TB + 1TB Nvme Dell 27" 2127DGF - 1440p - Gsync - 165hz Thrustmaster TCA Sidestick Airbus // TCA Quadrant Airbus // TFRP T.Flight Rudder Pedals // Logitech Flight Multi Panel
