Can´t Start MSFS after Win update

Or, Reinstall MSFS

If all else fails and you decide to go for reinstall fortunately it does not require a lot of attention, mainly just time, but you don't need to babysit while it does its thing as you probably know.  And you would of course save a copy of your Community folder, and perhaps reinstall the Windows update that seemed to be what started your woes and do that before you start the MSFS reinstall.

Do you use Map enhancement? I remember at one time if you didn't stop it before shutting down MSFS, MSFS would not start again. And the fix was to go into the system 32 files and reinstall the original file if you made a backup.

That happened to me as well. I think I deleted the hosts file but can’t remember exactly.

Thank you all, for the help.

No Map enhancement, here, and never did. The problem is, most certainly, with the MS update, because after 3 days trying to solve the problem after the update, I uninstalled everything, and tried to install just MSFS, and the problem persists, so I think it really was the update that broke something on the MS side. A strange thing is that everything else seems ok.

But now I will do a total installation of everything, Win 11 included (anyway, it was time to).

Thanks to all

I mean, before, I had moved away the community Folder and tried all the possible fixes I found and where indicated. Didn´t worked.
Then, uninstalled MSFS via Win and next, deleted all MSFS related files, and still didn´t work. Even with just MSFS vanilla installed, it still the same problem, so I'm only missing a vanilla Win 11 install (which I think it only will happen next week, because of Job related issues).

Since being released, I never had any kind of trouble, and suddenly, this...

Be sure you are using the same sign in info for the MS store and XBox account as in the sim.

Have you tried uninstalling MSFS through the game store or through the steam app reboot your system. you can then go to programs and features and uninstall the last win update that's giving you issues, or insert your WIN installation disc or usb drive and select repair your windows

installation and hopefully that will reinstall whatever system files that maybe got corrupted from last update. If all else fails backup what you can and do a fresh windows install, then reinstall MSFS after all your updates are done. it could be a display driver that's causing you problems, but you won't

know until you start a fresh windows and MSFS install. If all that works then you can add back your community folder again and test. I feel your pain. A year or so ago It took me half dozen times to uninstall and reinstall everything until I figured out what was causing my FS wouldn't start.

I already had that doubt days before. If I have a Steam version, does it need Xbox and MS Store?

Days before, I checked, and both have the same account, but on both, I can't find anything  related to MSFS.

Tried via Steam and via MS. Tried to uninstall and after reinstall the update.

Tomorrow, hopefully, will do a clean Win 11 install, and then reinstall the community folder that was already backed up.
It's so frustrating, because it was nothing that I have done bad, just a mandatory MS update...

It does indeed still require those apps...MS store, XBox app, Gaming Services etc...

I'm not sure if you have uninstalled that Windows update? If not, it is easy to do. Easy to do the right way, that is. By the right way, I mean the way that will fix a bad update.

Restart Windows by holding down the shift key while clicking on the Restart button on the task menu. Windows itself will not restart. It will enter a diagnostic mode. One of the choices is to remove your last Windows update. You will have to look through all the submenus to find that option.

You then will have 2 choices for Win update removal: Features updates (yearly) and Quality updates (monthly). Choose the Quality monthly update. Windows will restart. And when it restarts the quality update will NOT have been removed, like you probably might think it was supposed to have been. But now the computer will work perfectly (at least that has been my experience).

This worked for me many times (over a half dozen times). My computer would not run right after any quality update for almost a year. Using the above method worked to correct the issue every single time. I found out about this method searching MS forums.

If I used any other method of removing an update, then Windows would be broken. I had to use the above method.

Another option which is also listed in the menus above is to remove the windows update using Windows System Restore. If the first method doesn't work because Windows can't remove the update, then you are supposed to try this method.

I understand the logic, but looking on both, there is nothing from MSFS, apart from publicity. Should there be something?

Hello to all!

Just an update on the situation:
I did reinstall the Win 11. It seems to me, but I'm not an expert, that the little update "broke" the link between the Steam app and the Xbox app.
Now I'm on the process to reinstall MSFS and all the Add-ons.
Thank’s anyway for your help.

Spent a couple of days on this. I’m on the Win11 preview. Went to update apps no luck. A day later got a Xbox update. Loaded fine frustrating though.
