Alternatives to PMDG 73x?

It's not PMDG's responsibility to make their aircraft work with a third-party add-on that layers on top of it.

If SLC doesn't work with one of the most popular aircraft on the market, it's indeed a problem on SLC's side.

That's right, it's not PMDG's responsibility.  It works with it but it's buggy, works one time up, not the next, hitting RESTART of a flight will sometimes make it work predictably go figure.   A few days ago I had to hit RESTART 3x.   SLC's working to try to fix these areas but it's a struggle apparently.   Hopefully they will get there in the mean time they have implemented some work arounds which deviate from what would be preferred but at least it can be used in SLC.   Of course when something like PMDG 738 uses we'll call it non-standard means of doing this or that it becomes more difficult to make it work along w/ those using standard means.  For example, of all other planes use X to indicate the front left door is open but PMDG uses Z, then SLC has to cope with that exception.   Their dev is smart and dedicated so hopefully will get there eventually.

  • The Maddog MD-80 is every bit (or more) systems satisfactory as the PMDG.  Just saying.

  • Suggestion: Fly the Bredok 737 for a bit and then come back to reevaluate your stance on the PMDG 737.

So I've certainly heard of self loading cargo but not very familiar.  Why would somebody use that over gsx?  Or is it a different niche?

You wouldn't--SLC has been designed to complement and work with GSX.

SLC is a phenomenal piece of software, very creative and clearly very challenging to develop.  If PACX is a 3 out of 10 which is the max I'd give with its stunted development, SLC is a 20!   It's undergoing slow and steady development.   There are two main elements I use it for, and the first is its prodigious scoring component.  Along with A Pilot's Life's scoring feature they both keep you on your toes. The 2nd is the interactions between pilot, flight crew and ground crew.  It helps to make one aware of more of the role of being a Captain or FO versus 'just' flying the plane.  Super Highly Recommended, and geared currently for commercial piloting role.

I would love a definitive answer for this. I can't find a manual to read with info. I'm THIS close to buying it for P3d as I have the PMDG already for MSFS. For familiarity I'd just buy the PMDG 737 if I could but they won't take my money of course. The only thing I read somewhere was that the PACK panel was auto set by the fmc? As in you can't set the cruise altitude yourself, I'm used to following the FCOM from high altitude fields.

I think I'm inching ever closer to that MADDOG tbh :D

AFAIK you can still buy PMDG P3D thru Aerosoft (at least as of 2 weeks ago).

I was going to say this, but I couldn't find the 737. Only 777 and 747.

When I heard they were cut off their complete historical customer base WITHOUT WARNING  on their own sales site and were denying those with accessibility issues to continue to use their wonderfully versatile mouse control scheme for all future products I was filled with sadness and some actual panic. I spent ages re-installing FSX and a few days designing my own custom power scheme for W11 and the i9-14900/4090 combo that would be high performance and very stable (works great for P3d/MSFS too). I succeeded but I felt there was better out there.

I then purchased the pro version of p3d v5 and all the PMDG planes available for that sim in one day as I took note of a threat/warning by their support chief seriously they had forgotten about that avenue and would shut it down soon.

I also had the p3d 737 series in my cart but realised they were not the U versions that would be compatible with v5. I have the 737 in MSFS/FSX so not a huge deal except now I have a slot for a smaller jet to visit my massive investment in OrbX airports.

So yeh, A 737 is still there ( or was 2 weeks ago) but the one that WORKS for modern p3d is not.

I recall someone pleading on their forums to make older legacy planes available and was told they don't make money so the user asked if you don't make money on them how about freeware then? The PMDG spokesman then retorted "no PMDG plane will EVER be freeware" (paraphrased),

I'm not sensing a whole lotta love for their humble customer base here.

I stand corrected: I found the old 737 NGX for P3Dv4 at Aerosoft, for €68.

Well I guess I am crazy. I just use GSX and never considered this app. Odd that GSX and other apps dont have any issues with the pmdg 737 series...

do the other pmdg planes have issues? i forgot already
