True... but should people complain, though, given that street lights keep people safe on the roads and pavement at night. How many deaths would ensue without such lighting? There's an island near me called Sark. It was the first island in the world to be designated a "Dark Skies Island." At night you have to walk around with a torch. No street lights at all. No cars on the island, so easier to achieve. You can get some great views of the Milky Way, that is, if its a cloudless night. https://www.sark.co.uk/nature/dark-skies

I think we'd have to lose our atmosphere, too. I've seen the sky in an area where there was as close to no light pollution as you can get in the USA, and it was phenomenal, but it wasn't like that. This looked more like a long time exposure. Sorry. That video was great, but I'm not completely convinced it was real. Still worth watching. Hook Larry Hookins Oh! November 29, 20241 yr I live in an area where we have 100+ miles of visibility most days. We have a spectacular view of the night sky, but nothing like what they have on Mars. Noel The tires are worn. The shocks are shot. The steering is wobbly. But the engine still runs fine.

Hence why so many probes have crashed on Mars. Terminal velocity on Mars is 1000 km/h
November 30, 20241 yr Administrators Sister and brother-in-law just moved out of here last year. I drove down to SoCal every year at Thanksgiving. Best star gazing in California! https://www.springsatborrego.com/activities/stargazing/ Charlie AronAVSIM Board of Directors-ADMIN/Moderator-RegistrarJust going to run a Chromebook and not upgrade to a Windows computer. Too many problems with the new Sims! 😱Trying to keep peace and harmony and the will of Landru on the site seems to be a full time job!
November 30, 20241 yr Yep, Charlie. Once you get away from the high traffic cities and industrial areas like the deserts of the southwest you can see a larger portion of the universe we live in. My wife belonged to an astronomy club here and had a large reflector telescope. They would go to an old abandon missile silo several miles out of town and star gaze for a few hours. Once you really get too see scope of the universe it's hard not to speculate on what's out there. "In my house are many mansions!" Perhaps we see some when we are looking up at the sky on a cloudless night. Noel The tires are worn. The shocks are shot. The steering is wobbly. But the engine still runs fine.
