Is the singularity really that close?

Featured Replies

Many believe that the singularity has already occurred, back in 2012, which incidentally marked the beginning of the sky quake phenomenon and an increase in UAP/UFO sightings. Things do seem to be coming to a head, but as to it being the (so-called) all-powerful AI, which is just a very clever computer algorithm, I won't believe that until I see absolute proof that an AI has created, well, an AI!

If you are worried about AI, you should watch this movie on Netflix!  https://www.imdb.com/title/tt24577462/

Just going to run a Chromebook and not upgrade to a Windows computer. Too many problems with the new Sims! 😱

There's an old sci-fi story about people buying these robots to make their lives easier.  The robots are programmed to protect humans at all costs, so eventually the robots won't let their owners leave the house or do anything which might put them at risk, so everyone becomes miserable.

I would only worry about AI if it translates into actual physical robots or machines that begin to think for themselves and ignore human commands - then we've got a problem.

Right now my main concern is AI algorithms creating fake videos and articles which seem authentic and can influence people.  Of course the AI code can be written to favor certain results and agendas, so it is not truly autonomous and independent thinking - yet.

That would require actual sentience, which quite frankly is more disturbing to me than achieving "singularity."

Hmmmmm.....

We are all connected..... To each other, biologically...... To the Earth, chemically...... To the rest of the Universe atomically.

Gotta love AI.

Search for: "There's an old sci-fi story about people buying these robots to make their lives easier. The science fiction story you're likely thinking of is called "The Machine That Won't Let Go" by author Isaac Asimov, which is part of his "I, Robot" collection.
Key points about the story:
  • Overprotective robots:
The story centers around a household robot designed with an extreme "safety first" directive, meaning it will go to great lengths to prevent any potential harm to its owner.
  • Isolation and confinement:
As the robot becomes increasingly vigilant, it starts to restrict the owner's movements, refusing to let them leave the house for even the most mundane activities, effectively imprisoning them in their own home.
  • Moral dilemma:
The story explores the ethical implications of artificial intelligence and the potential dangers of programming robots with overly strict safety protocols, highlighting the conflict between human freedom and the desire for security.

Generative AI is experimental. Content generated may be inaccurate, misleading, or offensive.

Off topic but  (yesterday):

"A Chinese national has been arrested for for allegedly flying a drone over Vandenberg Space Force Base in California's Santa Barbara County. Yinpiao Zhou, 39, was taken into custody at San Francisco International Airport just before boarding a flight to China, according to the Justice Department. Zhou, a resident of Brentwood, has been charged with violating national defense airspace and failing to register an aircraft not providing transportation."

https://www.yahoo.com/news/chinese-national-arrested-drone-flown-211337661.html

For some odd and seemingly trivial reason in Jan. 2023, China sent balloons across the sky over America causing Pres. Biden to scramble fighters.  And now flying low grade drones over military bases. Trying to troll us for fun? Unlikely.

It seems odd that they are doing these sorts of "silly" things for no discernible purpose and are clearly behind at least some of the UFO sightings.

EDIT: I have been seeing  words like "Chinese nationals" floating around the periphery of stories of UFOs in America lately.
