Where can I find a good default ATC tutorial ?

Well, thank you all for your suggestions.

Today I completed de 2nd full IFR ATC flight in the Toliss 32N and default XP12 ATC was very acceptable, I'd say suprior to default FS 2024 ATC at it's present state which is very buggy.

So far SO GOOD !

@alexcolka, thank you, I will give it a try, but do you mean all DCT directives should be suppressed from the flightplan text when imported to the XP12 ATC menu?

Weird that not all DCT needed to be deleted in different filed IFR flight plans, don't know why.

This leads me to ask another question - @jcomm - did you use a downloaded simbrief plan for the Toliss A32N?  If so, with or without sid/stars?

Most of the time with the SID / STAR, and it works !  OFC I would love to have FSHUD or BATC for XP12, and their injected traffic - that's one of my preferred airliner flight environments in MSFS 2024 where I not only have acceptable ATC but also very nice traffic injection controlled by it !!! I miss that in XP12 ... maybe in a future update ?

Untill xplane atc can manage traffic on ground,  taxiways, it will never be able to handle that much traffic. Needs to implement some hold function till other aircraft have passed, keep using runways as taxiways, not well done. I have complained.

Yes, and Austin and continuing to defend AI traffic must have the same FM as default XP aircraft... That's always going to be HEAVY !

Maybe so, but even laminar provide ai versions if there planes, as do some developers. That reduces hit quiet a bit. Im running about 10. Worls fine

I am testing the X-Plane ATC.   Each flight I am getting different results.

I was flying from KDCA to KTEB .  The route was KDCA/01 SOOKI5 SWANN DCT JAIKE JAIKE4 KTEB/SBJ.R19-Z

Everything was going great.  The last communication I got from NY Center ATC was "Descent via JAKE4 arrival to 7 thousand, expect SBJ transition, for RNAP approach Z runway 19, altimeter 3001". After that the ATC went silent and never spoke again, I kept the heading, pass the airport and eventually left the NY/NJ area!

Should I have just followed the FMS/CDU and help myself towards runway 19  or was I suppose to be given more instructions from XP ATC?

I am lost because in other flights when I reach certain radius of the airport, ATC handed over to approach then to tower who would guide me to landing.

That clearance is what I posted on yhe previous page, generally (aiui, still learning) after that clearance the next ATC comms would be you reporting outer marker/final then being given clearance to land, not sure if the default ATC supports it, but some procedures also have intermediate compulsory reporting points and holds, some also have vectored legs (where ATC guides you to the next leg)

ATC isnt real, it messes up, there are no fines or licence lost if you cheat, neither like in real life do you have to respond right away if your busy, not crashing far more important. If ATC ignores you you can simply change course to where you wan to go, it often triggers ATC to fixing things, But people seem to be afraid of ATC. It doesnt bite. I often dont respond for 3 or 4 overs if its not giving me what I want. Havnt yet discovered the ignore limit.

This type of situations used to take place a lot more before the last beta, now stable version. I think they got it a bit better with the last update.

It's WIP...

I am yet to find a believable ATC robot 😕

Apparently RC4 was / is a great ATC but although I tried it in the old times of FSX, but somehow didn't like it and decided to create VATSIM and IVAO accounts, which I actually never used 🙂

I have been using first FSHUD, with P3D and then FS 2020 and now in FS 2024, and BATC too. I like both, specially together with the free FSLTL. It's an amazing combination compared to what I remember from other programs.

A friend of mine has been trying to convince me to buy Pilot2ATC, but I tried a demonstration sometime ago and setting it up was rocket science and I eventually gave up - too "complex" for my liking...

ATC cleared you to descend via JAKE4 and for the RNAV-Z approach to runway 19. Which means that it expects that you set up your FMS accordingly and follow the waypoints of the STAR and approach yourself. On the way, you will be handed over to approach and tower at the appropriate points.

12.1.3's does not do as much hand holding and wrist-slapping as it used to when in the air (which is a very good thing), so take its instructions as "do this to keep follwoing my script" instead of "I don't speak to you so I musst be broken".

And I strongly suggest pausing the sim and reviewing Log_ATC.txt when in doubt about ATC's intentions, as it contains a list of active waypoints and all communication to that point.
