Key Binding woes.....Again

Featured Replies

Trying to map the Caravan. I create a copy of the default controls and then edit my Bravo Quadrant for mixture. First I DELETE every existing control and start from scratch. The mixture control has a mind of its own. I make sure the keyboard, mouse and joystick have NO control assigned to Mixture. I then assign a mixture lever and it moves. But when I move it, it snaps back to zero. To double check I run through every single controller: Mouse, Keyboard, Joystick have no controls assigned to mixture. Auto Mixture control is OFF in the assistance settings.

Whatever I do the mixture (red lever) keeps moving back to zero. I've also tried mapping it to keyboard only (mixture increase/decrease)and then mouse only, and the same thing happens. The sim mixture red lever moves back to zero every time. So I delete all that and then assign everything to CONDITION lever. It doesn't work at all.

Something, somewhere, is moving that red mixture sim lever all by itself. I double, triple checked that NO OTHER BINDING is on for mixture. I even deleted THE WHOLE profile, started again and deleted every single mapping for every single control but still the mixture moves back on its own after moving it forward with my controller. This happens whether I reverse the axis, or tick the "repeat" off.

There must be others who are seeing this. There HAVE to be. It's driving me nuts and I've now spent about 6 hours getting nowhere. I very rarely give up on things but this is getting ridiculous. Any suggestions?

I see something similar in the JF RJ, I hear clicking sounds, throttle 2 moves constantly into reverser position, all other 3 levers are fine and ALL configured the very same with literally NO other bindings. so, yes, you are not alone. I am putting my hope in the patch 3 to come these days so that they fix some if not most if not all of the controller setting issues. we'll see...

Fingers crossed but even 2020 still have some issues if you just go to the menu and back for instance.

I noticed a shortcut in the toolbar for controller settings in a plane. Anyone knows to activate that in all planes?

Can you take screenshots of what you're trying to do.

If I assign exactly the same bindings in FS2020 it works perfectly. If I assign another lever it also works. It seems FS2024 does not like me to choose which lever is mixture. If I set Bravo Quandrant back to FS2024 transversal (default) the mixture works but only using my assigned Prop Lever. But the Bravo Quadrant shouldn't care which lever you assign to any axis. Mystery. This only seems to happen on the Caravan.

One thing to check is using the SEARCH window in the control settings and search for key/axis, move your lever and see the lst of assigned actions.

Then perform the reverse search - search for action instead. Type mixture and a list of actions involving "mixture" will show all of the corresponding matches.

Check for multiple assignments.

Are you also assigning the condition lever to anything? Some people reporting it's getting confused with the mixture binding in the 208*

I tried mapping the condition lever in the Caravan to a condition lever in the profile but it was not recognised. I've partially solved it by assigning what I usually reserve as the prop lever to mixture then move the prop binding to what is usually throttle number 2. It really should work assigning any lever.

I must say these FS2024 bindings are a total pain in the neck. The FS2020 bindings worked flawlessly and took about 20 minutes to assign everything including camera views, slew, trim and everything else. Asobo have made this control system into a whopping design fail. You really do not need 3 slots. ONE slot is more elegant and far more efficient and it can do everything FS2024 does but in a quarter of the time.

Thanks for the replies!

Even in the Saab 340, mapping a Bravo axis to the Condition didn't work (there were clicks to be heard, but the levers didn't move). I didn't try to map them onto the Mixture, but just gave up since I needed the airplane only for the Neofly D certification ride.
