5800X3D Spikes / Sound Issues

It's definitely a bug that needs to be fixed next update because some PG regions are fine, no spikes but I find the LA area to have the most freezes and spikes.

The LA area is terrible. I tried tweaking settings to try to eliminate the stutters but eventually gave up. Eventually I disabled PG and I could finally land relatively stutter-free at LAX.

  • I don't use on board MB sound because it adds more work for the CPU. I use sound blaster card that has it's own processor and let my system CPU handle other processes.

It has nothing to with your audio hardware. I have a 9800X3D and I was getting the spikes. I noticed the spikes happen in heavy PG areas when the sim is downloading large amounts of data and injecting

  • So after watching Noel’s thread I spent the time to downgrade from 24h2 to 23h2. So far so good, two flights and not getting the issues I was getting before, I am optimistic that it is fixed for me, I

Yeah I departed Burbank last night and it was horrible with CPU spikes

FWIW, so after reading I set up Burbank to LAX in 2024. 172 steam gauge, PG on, AI offline. 5800X3D, 4070, DLAS quality, preset render ultra, both LOD's 200, Asobo ATC, vfr flight rules, flew the ATC pattern.

The taxi to parking took about 8 minutes. Then I called for the fuel truck (is prone to stutters more than anything else). No sound clicks, no stutters, no freezes at all, not even the fuel truck coming for me.

Perhaps lack of sound popping/ stutters because: no AI traffic, no glass screens, simple GA plane, default airports, and maybe most of all DLSS instead of TAA. I'm also using FXsound for sound (freeware, it has full graphic equalizers).

5800X3D, RTX4070, 600 Watt, one or two 1440p 32" screens, 64 GB RAM, 4 TB  PCle 3 NVMe, Warthog throttle, VKB NXT EVO stick, Honeycomb Alpha yoke, CH quad, 3 Logitech panels, 2 StreamDecks, Desktop Aviator Trim Panel. Crystal Light VR.

BTW, in another thread someone complained default ATC showed random messages instead of the last message. I think that is because you have to use the scroll bar to move display down to last message.

Also on YT someone in some video or other said to use the fastest setting, high, for Glass Screen Refresh Rate instead of low like what used to be more stable. They said Asobo had lately optimized the glass screen display.

Thanks for the video. I’ve got exactly the same audio issues.

Could be. I’ll try and notice if it’s worse in the Fenix vs when I fly the Bonanza G36. Or even something without a glass cockpit. I’m always on DLSS+DLAA.

Strangely, I don’t have the audio issue when I’m using my USB headphones.

I don’t think the issue is that common - then we’d have more posts and threads about it. I didn’t find much on the official forum either.

FS bug. I have those spikes also with an old 7 5800 - both with the board's realtek sound chip aswell as with 4 (!) different external DACs.

Fs2020 was running well with minimal spikes and stutters with my 7950x3d 3080ti and 64gb ram

As soon as there was a micro update when fs2024 was released.

Im.getting the spikes

Which Sim are we discussing here? I have not experienced this problem with 2020.

2020 for me

if you have a NZXT product and you have installed the CAM software, disable automatic startup and restart your computer

retest, if you don't have the CAM software, disable all audio management in the systray, I encountered the same problem as you

give me feedback

I have this same problem in 2020. I did not have the issues until I updated from win 10 to win 11 24h2.

Interesting. I think @Noel has a thread going where they mentioned the issue was not there before 24H2.

Well that would be different as my headphones are 1/8" stereo jack connected.  What's stranger than fiction:  it's completely random!  Last eve's flight was chock full of cutouts but this morning's, totally fine.  What was the difference?  Time of day? Different day of the year?  Same plane, same route !!!!!!!!!!!!!!  If it persists I may have to try USB headphones, or maybe there is a 1/8" to USB adaptor.

I am only using USB headphones so I don’t think that is it.
