Thought I would  try airlink with my Quest 2 before going VD.

6 FPS  in a default plane at LAX.

My Router says Wi fi 6,  strong signal excellent connection.  But at the side of the image before even going to msfs24  the image is  a blur of triangles like something out of the titles of Dr Who !?  No idea what that is.  Don't get it with link cable.

Switched back to link cable 20FPS

Switched to MSFS (20)   Just Flight Hawk at LAKX  35 - 55 FPS  with link cable

2 Hours trying to get MSFS24 to work "useable"  just don't have this time at the moment to spare so back to MSFS,  my system is not poor so link should give reasonable results one would think.  Maybe come back in a few years when  can go for a beast of a system and a new headset.

Concerned if i buy V Desktop  would get the same results. sooo frustrating

VR and MSFS 2024 are not good together at the moment.  I don't plan on 'trying' 2024 until this summer or fall and only when the VR issues are resolved. 😎

I am actually having very good experiences with MSFS2024 in VR at the moment - and my PC specs are certainly on the lower end (9700K, 2070S, Reverb G2).  For me, 2024 was almost unusable in VR until I installed the latest version of OpenXR Toolkit and enabled it for MSFS2024.  I do run mostly medium graphics settings in the sim, but I am going to experiment with setting some of the settings to high.

VR is okay for me too, better performance than 2020 on my G2 with a GTX 3080. Only issue I have  is that the EFB doesnt work and the mouse bug, wich I had in 2020 too, so nothing new there…

G2 does seem to work well quest 3 no go shame g2 discontinued  and wmr dropped from windows

none of this for me in MSFS 2024, using HP Reverb G2. typically 40-60 fps in VR. DLSS at high quality and most VR settings on HIGH or MAX.

AMD 7800X3D, Windows 11, Gigabyte X670 AORUS Elite AX Motherboard, 64GB DDR5 G.SKILL Trident Z5 NEO RGB (AMD Expo), RTX 4090,  Samsung 980 PRO M.2 NVMe SSD 2 TB PCIe 4.0, Samsung 980 PRO M.2 NVMe SSD 1 TB PCIe 4.0, 4K resolution 50" TV @60Hz, VR: Pimax Crystal Light + HP Reverb G2 @ 90 Hz, Honeycomb Bravo Throttle Quadrant, be quiet 1000W PSU, Noctua NH-U12S chromax.black air cooler.

60-130 fps. no CPU overclocking.

very nice.

must be some weird issue with my wireless connection to my pc via link.  Cable No problem   but  using link without msfs even loaded  if I connect wirelessly   I get to see the desktop but at the side its a graphical mess of moving triangles  and the sound stutters. The connection says   its excellent though on a 5  connection.  No idea what is happening here then?  faulty headset?

When connected says

Network Band 5GHZ

Channel Width 160mhz

Ethernet connection  connected

Wi Fi signal  Strong

But when switch to air link   sound goes all stuttery and I have graphical glitches at the side   kaleidoscope triangles  and the whole dashboard stutters

doing my head in !

tried Steam VR and that opens  then when i switch to VR says cant detect a signal form pc

arrrgh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Quest 3 here. Your story sounds familiar. 5G air link was not a success. The lag in Oculus home was terrible, with broken sound and I could barely click myself out of it with the mouse. No need to try MSFS24 that way. It worked fine on cable though, both Oculus and Steam. I went with Virtual Desktop and it works great wirelessly. Overall, VD makes it easier to connect to the sim, better than it was with the Reverb G2. Also, I have better performance in FS24 than FS20 and it has been very stable so far.

SOLVED !!!  I think !!!!!   May be useful to others out there !

I have been in discussions with Meta  Support desk, who have been very quick and fast to respond with suggestions.

Dis a complete uninstall , factory reset of the Quest 2 all to no avail.

However in Oculus Debug Tool  there is a setting

"Encode Dynamic Bitrate"  this was set to "enabled".

Changed that to "disabled"

In the Encode Bitrate  the default ( clean install) was 500.  Changed that down to 250   done a quick 15 min test  and now get 36 FPS  and no lag  with AIRLINK

For the wireless solution out there, Air link is notoriously the worst. Steam Link is decent but ultimately VD is pretty much the most seamless one.
