January 6, 20251 yr Just curious if anyone uses Lossless Scaling and is it worth it. I just started using the Frame Mod app and on my 2 flights i have seen a great improvement on smoothness. I wasn't sure if Lossless Scaling will make it even better or if it isn't worth it if my performance in terms of smoothness is good at the moment. My specs are below. I have 64 GB memory, not 32 as I just upgraded and my monitor is a Ultrawide C49RC9x with HDR on adn 2150 x 1440 60 Hz. Thanks! Intel Core i7 12700K (5.0GHz Max Boost Clock) 12-Core CPU 32GB G.Skill Performance DDR4 SDRAM 3600MHz Graphics Processor:12GB Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 Ti, GDDR6x System 2TB Western Digital, NVMe M.2 Solid State Drive
January 6, 20251 yr I use it with the same CPU, 64GB and a 4090 and think it is a phenomenal piece of software. Others will disagree so it's personal experience but as I recall it was less than the price of a McDonald's meal... Not a big investment to try it. Have a Wonderful Day -Paul Solk
January 6, 20251 yr I use LossLess scaling with a 3080 and I think it's totally worth the $6.00. I had tearing in menus with the frame Gen dll's , but lossless scaling works very smoothly. I'm even using 3x and it seems to work fine. It also has a frame counter which always makes me feel good when I see how smooth the sims are.

What type of simmer are you? GA, airliner, etc? January 7, 20251 yr It's one or the other for sure. You get enough benefit either way. I think there's a point of diminishing returns. There's many older threads about the app . People go through a lot of hoops to use it, but I just use it as it comes and it works fine. BTW, it works with any program or game. It funtions externally to the app as I understand it. I mostly fly GA. I do a fair amount of sight seeing and the smooth panning really is nice. Helps on landing and pattern work too. LossLess scaling is a steam product, so you have to join steam to get it. I wasn't a steam member but i joined (for free) to get the app. Didn't affect my PC at all.
January 7, 20251 yr Yes you have to join Steam to buy it. But it can be used on either Steam or Store MSFS, 2020 or 2024. It is dirt simple to use. You can assign any keyboard combination hotkey to turn lossless scaling on or off. IslandSimPilot on youtube has the videos showing all about it. 5800X3D, RTX4070, 600 Watt, one or two 1440p 32" screens, 64 GB RAM, 4 TB PCle 3 NVMe, Warthog throttle, VKB NXT EVO stick, Honeycomb Alpha yoke, CH quad, 3 Logitech panels, 2 StreamDecks, Desktop Aviator Trim Panel. Crystal Light VR.
January 7, 20251 yr Optiscaler is better, it has also an option to avoid HUD artifacts, and it's free. https://github.com/cdozdil/OptiScaler I use it on FS2024 with the FSR3 option and it works very well. 7800X3D | 2x32 GB DDR5-6000 CL32 | RTX 5080 | Alienware OLED 34" | 1 Gbps fiber
January 7, 20251 yr My problem with LS is that it uses quiet some VRAM. As I am anyway already at the brink of VRAM overflow with my 4080 at 4K res, I cant really use LS for what I was hoping it could be used: heavy airport scenarios. If it works (e.g. VRAM not full), it is phenomenal in MSFS2020, but if the VRAM is full, it is the exact opposite and results in massive stutters. For MSFS2024, I have no need for more FPS currently. January 7, 20251 yr Why use LS if you have a 4000 series? You can use native FG and DLSS. 7800X3D | 2x32 GB DDR5-6000 CL32 | RTX 5080 | Alienware OLED 34" | 1 Gbps fiber

With my setup, I am down to 20-25FPS on heavy airports, add FG on top and I get 50FPS. Ok, but not buttery smooth. With LS 2x on top, I am at around 80-100FPS and this is absolutely smooth. Does the avoid HUD avoid the ghosting issue in glass cockpits when using DLSS? If so I’d try it. "I am the Master of the Fist!" -Akuma

No, the ghosting is caused by the use of a lower internal resolution for the frame elaboration. I got rid of it anyway, because I use the DLAA setting from the DLSS panel, which uses the native resolution (no upscaling). Then Optiscaler applies FSR3 frame generation on the native resolution frames and I double the framerate without ghosting or blurring on the glass screens. You can also set a framerate limit and avoid using the nVidia Control Panel frame limiter, which causes longer loading times (like the old Fallout 4 engine 😄 ) 7800X3D | 2x32 GB DDR5-6000 CL32 | RTX 5080 | Alienware OLED 34" | 1 Gbps fiber
