UK snow coverage (or lack of!)

Featured Replies

Just loaded in at EGCC Manchester where, if you watch live on YouTube this morning is COVERED in snow.  Looks like a summer’s day in MSFS.   Would ActiveSky fix this?

The back of my house faces NW so departures on 05L are visible to me within a minute. 😁

  • I am currently flying from JFK to ATL(2020, not 2024), and Live Weather is giving me extensive snow coverage along the Appalachians - most probably from the most recent storm a couple of days ago, but

Living 3 miles from the airport I can confirm extensive snow coverage across the whole of NW England. See my website below for current conditions.

I flow over the UK yesterday using ASFS and yes, it was covered in snow...

Thanks. You’d think they’d have sorted the weather by now!

Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think just toggling off live weather in MSFS switches it to ASFS? Based on the screenshots I actually think the first screenshot is MSFS with ASFS Active Mode enabled and the second screenshot is MSFS with a clear skies preset. I might be wrong though.

MSFS uses Meteoblue for snow. Meteoblue currently isn't showing any snow in/around Manchester which is obviously incorrect.

That option requires a subscription to be visible. But their weather website is brilliant.

So, Filou, in your post here neither MSFS or AS weather are showing snow coverage.....and overall I like the weather fronts etc of MSFS weather and am worried the AS transitions will "upset" me.

You can change the weather with active sky. Passive mod (FS24 live weather by default) first photo.
Active mode (Active Sky live weather) second photo.

I noticed in MSFS 2024 late yesterday, snow was not showing where it should in mid-Atlantic US.  It was working well about a week ago but looks like the snow coverage is not currently working.  To the OP...no, AS will not fix the snow coverage issue.

Ian,

It only bothers you.You can also use my settings you will save time.

If you take the time to look at the default weather forecast FS24 is wrong twice ,no snow on the ground and in the sky let's not talk about it....

For Active sky i use the last Beta.(Not sure if there is anything to do with that) only the snow cover is missing.

Final score result

Ative Sky 1

FS24 0

Thanks for that Flic1. I've done some research and will stick with MSFS weather for a number of reasons - mainly the fronts etc.
