MSFS 2024 Cloud Quality in Distance

It’s interesting, I wonder if it’s just the lighting that has improved and not the clouds.

2020 also has awesome looking clouds when the lighting is right, maybe the lighting is right more of the time in 2024?

I’ve definitely still seen the volcanic ash clouds in 2024.

  • This probably needs its own topic but, IMO overall the clouds just keep getting worse. Sure sometimes they may look pretty, but it's all smoke in mirrors; there's no feeling of motion anymore when goi

definitely seen those stupid semi transparent clouds like AB has at the horizon during live weather.  In my opinion that's some sort of error in meteoblue or whoever is doing the weather these days...  I see it all the time... these random "barely there" puffs...  And they look awful!

Yeah, I see them all the time too. I’m amazed more people don’t notice these. They really do look hideous. Every time I see them I just want to close the sim and go on 2020 instead.

2020 with Rex Atmos, for me, still looks better than 2024 in terms of atmospherics and clouds.

Eh not for me.... I see more of the pics I posted haha...

Really we see what we want to see.

Gotta say, I almost never had clouds after SU5/7 that looked good, but understand that it's highly subjective.

Not really the same topic, but I'm wondering how much of the difference in perception of the same sim is down to simply having an HDR panel or not. I switched off the HDR on my 2024 the other day just to see what it looked like, and it was a noticeable downgrade, especially muted colours and overexposed cloud lighting.

Like many here, I find few problems with Msfs2024's clouds.....

My overall impression is that the clouds look much better in 2024. Of course I also see those anemic clouds. But in 2020 I used Active Sky to render the clouds, whereas in 2024 I set it to passive mode to let the sim take care of the clouds.

Most of the time, the cloud have that natural white color. I’ve seen very few/none of the horrendous volcanic ash clouds.

This looks awesome of course. But it’s 95% the golden hour lighting, and you can’t see clearly to the horizon the clouds in the distance about which I posted!
