January 22, 20251 yr Author It’s interesting, I wonder if it’s just the lighting that has improved and not the clouds. 2020 also has awesome looking clouds when the lighting is right, maybe the lighting is right more of the time in 2024? I’ve definitely still seen the volcanic ash clouds in 2024.

In my opinion that's some sort of error in meteoblue or whoever is doing the weather these days... I see it all the time... these random "barely there" puffs... And they look awful! Yeah, I see them all the time too. I’m amazed more people don’t notice these. They really do look hideous. Every time I see them I just want to close the sim and go on 2020 instead. 2020 with Rex Atmos, for me, still looks better than 2024 in terms of atmospherics and clouds.

I see more of the pics I posted haha... Not really the same topic, but I'm wondering how much of the difference in perception of the same sim is down to simply having an HDR panel or not. I switched off the HDR on my 2024 the other day just to see what it looked like, and it was a noticeable downgrade, especially muted colours and overexposed cloud lighting. i910900k, RTX 3090, 32GB DDR4 RAM, AW3423DW, Ruddy girt big mug of Yorkshire Tea
January 22, 20251 yr Like many here, I find few problems with Msfs2024's clouds..... We are all connected..... To each other, biologically...... To the Earth, chemically...... To the rest of the Universe atomically. January 22, 20251 yr My overall impression is that the clouds look much better in 2024. Of course I also see those anemic clouds. But in 2020 I used Active Sky to render the clouds, whereas in 2024 I set it to passive mode to let the sim take care of the clouds. Most of the time, the cloud have that natural white color. I’ve seen very few/none of the horrendous volcanic ash clouds. 7950X3D | RTX 4090 | 64GB DDR5
