February 9, 20251 yr I am gonna setting up my new rig next week (if I find time and get in the mood), however, I am not sure if I should install MS2020 and MS2024. So far I haven't flown a single flight with the new sim and still fly FS20. But since I want to save some space on my SSD I am wondering if I should just skip it. Another question: How to organize the drives? I have one 2TB SSD and one 1 TB SSD. Should I seperate the partion for MSFS and Windows? Some people say windows belongs to it's own SSD and software to another, what do you think about it? Would you use the 1TB for MSFS or rather the 2 TB? I am also doing video editing, so will need some storage for that too.
February 9, 20251 yr Using 2020 or 2024 depends on what you fly and how you use it really. I have both, but at the moment I only use 2020 because I fly the 777 95% of the time. I fire 2024 up occasionally just to keep it updated, and to get used to the menu and controls system. Visually 2024 is a bit better when there aren't streaming problems, but there are issues with it that for 'ME' make it unplayable at the moment. I have Windows on a 1TB M.2, MSFS 2020 on a seperate 2TB M.2, and 2024 on another 1TB M.2, and another 4 SSD's with various other programs on, I like to keep things separated. February 9, 20251 yr Only you can decide which sim you like to fly, but I went through the same transition last year. So, if you are keeping your previous system around, as I did, you can always find 2020 content by starting it up.. I also have a 1 TB and a 2 TB drive. Since I already owned FS2020, I reinstalled it on the new PC. Sim installed on the 1 TB C drive (default), but content on the 2 TB D drive. I did not install the World Updates etc, just the bare sim. Sim content does not take up that much space on a 2 TB drive. Then I installed FS2024, same thing, sim on the C drive, content on the D drive. Took up even less space. Now I can fly either sim, whenever I want... and guess what, I never fly 2020 any more. However, having it around allows me to go back and look and compare if needed. Sometime, later this year, I will likely uninstall 2020 and reclaim the space, but for now, 2020 takes up 245 GB, and 2024 takes up 30 GB. Bert

I recommend to put msfs 2020 on the 2TB drive and 2024 on the 1TB drive. Use msfs 2020 for airliners and 2024 for VFR "low & slow" simming. Evaluate in a few months, but keep both and enjoy both sims. MSFS

I hadn't thought about that. Technically, everything would fit on 1 TB. 2020+2025 = around 300 GB and I have sound 150-200 GB Addons = 450-600GB, so I would still have plenty of space. I hope FS24 will get fixed by end of the year, I could drop fs20 and would have again planty of space.

February 9, 20251 yr No issues with having both. My airliners are still on 2020 as they sort-of-but-not-really work with the latest 2024 beta. That being said, there are several posts on which planes/mods/sceneries work with 2024. You'd be surprised as to how many work. 2024 performance and visuals are improved along with flight physics for a great deal of planes. Some are twitchy. worse etc...need an update. 7800+4090+64ram Just Flight RJ, 146 and F28, Piper Arrows ---A2A Aerostar and Comanche---Black Square Starship, Duke(s), TBM, Bonanza/BaronV2, KingAir---FSReborn FSR500---COWS Da42---FX P180, HJet & VJet---FlySimWare Chancellor and LearJet---FlightSimStudio EMB175 &P2006T---Fenix 320---PMDG DC6, 737(700+900), 777---C22J---Milviz Cessna 310 & Porter---SimWorksStudios Kodiak, PC12, Zenith & RV14---BigRadials Goose---IndiaFoxEcho MB3339+F35.
