Did they fix custom liveries / registrations?

Interesting.  I wonder if another livery is messing it up.  Have you tried disabling any other rv14 paints

I would love to know why you are getting this to work, and I do not. 🙂

With the previous Beta3, the custom RV14 worked, and the A36 had a registration in white, just like in 2020.

I was a happy camper.

Now, with Beta4, the RV14 has a black registration painted on the outside, and the A36 also has a black, instead of white registration.

I am not aware of any changes that I might have made..  It did not work at 2024 launch, it was fixed with SU1 Beta3, and now it is back to the 2024 launch state.

  • My example actually shows a custom registration selected in the sim... there was no painted registration in this case. Sorry for the confusion! 🫢

  • But but but they need to improve the walking speed before they concentrate on actual bugs(!), begs the question what else are they wasting their time on whilst not fixing the obvious issues?  But

  • That explains why it works for you ... but not for anyone *not* on beta! ;)

Do you not get this:

Try notepad++ and copying the NBSP (3x) from within the quotes and pasting THAT direct into the sim.

AHA, that does indeed work!   Tricky, since it needs to be applied every time I change to the RV14..

Nevertheless, THANK YOU for that!

Now, do you also know how to get my A36 registration back to white?

I looked it up... You can enter NBSP from the keyboard, by entering Alt+255.

That works also.

Yellow sticky:  "No registration = Alt+255, enter"

No unfortunately.  My only goal was to delete the custom reg so it won't show over the top of hand painted liveries.

But if you want it to stick you can add that change in the ATC ID line.

Just be aware that it may disable EVERY plane's custom reg.

Tried all the tricks mentioned above for 2024 ... no workee for me 😞 ... will have to wait until Asobo get their a**** into g*** ...

Try entering Alt+255, enter on the configuration/registration screen.

That creates an invisible reg 🙂

It really should be stored as an aircraft specific setting, rather than as a global setting... but lets celebrate small wins!

Guess what, Beta5 and the A36 reg is white again..

Edit:  Actually, only once..  Now it is back to black.

Next thing to try, is to bring back the 2020 registration code... I copied the asobo-vliveries folder from the 2020 Official directory to the 2024 Community folder.  At least the TBM850 is working again, and the A36 exterior reg as well.  The A36 interior reg is the wrong colour though... there seems to be no rhyme or reason.. 🫢

It's invisible in the configuration menu, but as soon as you go into the aircraft proper, the random rego gets applied. This is with regular 2024 - not beta.

I expect most of are *not* running the beta(s) so many of these [complex] tweaks don't apply :(

Note: The numbers need to be entered on the numpad keys, for this to work.

I use [hold ALT][Numpad]0160[release ALT] which gives me a hard space. However - neither 255 nor 0160 work for me.

ALT + NUMPAD 0160 is the same as NBSP and that's what worked for my WBSim C152 livery, but I used notepad++ to insert it (3 times) in the livery's aircraft.cfg in the "atc_id=" field. I have the fields in the configuration/registration screen inside the sim all empty. This way, I only get the painted registration, but the ATC calls me just Cessna...

I have the latest WBSim/JP Logistics 152 and still get the random registration - despite editing the aircraft.cfg and also amending the registration in the MSFS 2024 aircraft/livery configuration screen. Are you on MS Store/2024?
