Turning your webcam into an Eye Tracker - At SimMarket

Featured Replies

This really looks interesting. It offers turning your webcam into an eye tracker for a lot of games, including of course, MSFS.

It's coming soon at SimMarket.

[EDITED THE TITLE. WILL BE NEW AT SIMMARKET]

Old news, using Beam Eye Tracker for over a year now (sporadically). It works, but it is pretty much a fiddling around with settings until you get an acceptable result. TrackIR was waaaay easier to setup.

Cheap. Easy to set. Follows both head movement and/or eye movement. Works well in dark environment (monitor lighting is sufficient).

Been using it for months. Just make sure you have sufficient lighting before configuration- makes a world of difference.

Yeah that's not new it's been on Steam for ages, was decent when I tried the demo.

Saitek X45 HOTAS - Saitek Pro Rudder Pedals - Logitech Flight Yoke - Homemade 3 Button & 8-directional Joystick Box, SNES Controller (used as a Button Box - Additional USB Numpad (used as a Button Box)

Well, I've been using EdTracker Pro since my TrackIR broke some 5 yrs ago, but I seldom use it with X-Plane or MSFS - it was mostly used with DCS and IL-2.

The only big limitation of EdTracker Pro is that it isn't 6DOF, so, there's no longitudinal axis movement (getting closer / farther away from a given object).

1) I wonder if this Beam Eye Tracker does it?

2) Wonder if it works ok with X-Plane 12 ?

EDIT: Regarding 1) the answer is YES!

Flying gliders since 1980

Flightsimming since 1992

AMD Ryzen 5600x, 32GB RAM, GPU Nvidia RTX 3060 Ti 8 GB, 1 TB and 500 GB nvme2 SSD drives, HP 27" 60Hz LED monitor @ 1920x1080, T16000, Hotas from old X52 Pro, Saitek Combat Rudder Pro (2010 model)

I've been using it for about a year now and it works as described but fine tuning takes some time. And a second screen is needed to tweak it while flying. Sometimes I get frustrated with it and just turn it off and use my hat switch to pan around.

I've been using Tobii for around 2 years and it works well... but... Just of pure curiosity I bought El Gato Facecam Mk2 webcam and Beam Eye Tracker few days ago to compare them.
