March 20, 20251 yr 2024 VR Flight is going smoothly and everything works fine. Then, for no reason I can isolate, the mouse ceases to have interaction with anything. The cursor moves but the pointer never changes to a hand. I can touch things but the sim is not aware of me touching, e.g. the throttle or a switch. While remaining in VR - I go into settings/control and verify the mouse buttons are set to interaction. I make no changes but do a back and save. While still in VR - Resume puts me in a cockpit where the mouse again controls switches and I can grab the throttle, landing gear, etc. Everything works smoothly for a while... And, once again the mouse loses interaction with the cockpit while in VR. I can reliably repeat this sequence but cannot identify how it happens. This problem never occurs in 2D flight. March 21, 20251 yr This is a well-known issue together with the access to the EFB (always out of reach of the mouse cursor). Unfortunately VR is treated with low priority by Asobo and a solution for these basic issues will (hopefully) be available with SU2 only. March 21, 20251 yr Yes, super annoying isnt it! March 21, 20251 yr Yeah that's the Menu bug, a simple mouse issue caused when you go into and back out of the menu, it loses it's ability to click anything. Literally a five minute fix but, yeah, Asobo (read Martials) disdain for VR is very apparent. Let's hope they bothered to fix it for SU2. March 21, 20251 yr I do not lose mouse functionality if I return from the menu using the [ESC] key instead of the menu option to return to the sim. Also, I have found a click of the right mouse button re-enables mouse interaction with aircraft controls whenever it loses that ability (which is often!) Hopefully these tips help until Asobo fixes these annoying VR bugs...
March 21, 20251 yr I think everyone has the same issue. By the way, a month ago during a Q&A, Jorg said he broke his Reverb G2 and hasn't used VR in awhile. He used to fly VR a lot. 5800X3D, RTX4070, 600 Watt, one or two 1440p 32" screens, 64 GB RAM, 4 TB PCle 3 NVMe, Warthog throttle, VKB NXT EVO stick, Honeycomb Alpha yoke, CH quad, 3 Logitech panels, 2 StreamDecks, Desktop Aviator Trim Panel. Sometimes when looking at the 2D screen after a flight I wonder why so many still fly that way. As for annoying mouse behaviour, what about that one where there are two pointers on the screen but only one of them is clickable. It was like this in FS20 as well, so no doubt the devs know about it. I haven't seen this behaviour in other games I play. Mike Beckwith
March 22, 20251 yr Interesting. I don't remember ever having seen double pointers. 2D can be immersive on a double wide screen. In windowed mode with the image dragged across 1-1/2 wide instead of double wide. That leaves 1/2 wide area for other programs. You get a wide view, less edge distortion, and room to run another program on the monitor. At any time you could also do an Alt Enter to go double wide in MSFS. I do about 1/2 my flights in wide 2D and 1/2 in VR. I never fly on a normal 16:9 2D, which does not seem very immersive. In real life everyone sees everything in a wide view, not a small 16:9 view. 5800X3D, RTX4070, 600 Watt, one or two 1440p 32" screens, 64 GB RAM, 4 TB PCle 3 NVMe, Warthog throttle, VKB NXT EVO stick, Honeycomb Alpha yoke, CH quad, 3 Logitech panels, 2 StreamDecks, Desktop Aviator Trim Panel. March 22, 20251 yr Back in time, monitors were not 16:9 they were 12:9 (4:3). This was because they were CRT screens and a cathode broadcasts a circle pattern. You can trim the circle down and stretch that out to 4:3 comfortably, but not wider. When thin LCD screen monitors arrived they went to 16:9 because that's what movie theaters used. 5800X3D, RTX4070, 600 Watt, one or two 1440p 32" screens, 64 GB RAM, 4 TB PCle 3 NVMe, Warthog throttle, VKB NXT EVO stick, Honeycomb Alpha yoke, CH quad, 3 Logitech panels, 2 StreamDecks, Desktop Aviator Trim Panel. March 24, 20251 yr I also get double-pointers. It comes and goes, even in 2020, with the FlightFx P180 (and other A/C too). Pimax Crystal.
