Don't agree.  If you subscribe for a month and don't like the aircraft, you can pull out for $5.  If you do like the aircraft, you purchase for a total of $125 - great value.

And if that works for you - by all means.
It’s just funny I had something similar to this sentiment expressed to me from other people in the community and I find it fascinating. Why would you go against your own interests?

Let me put it another way - as a buyer of addons - in your scenario where you like the plane, would you rather pay $120 or $125?

Obviously that would be a better deal for you as a consumer. My point is, with a subscription discounting full price, it’s actually a better deal for the developers too.

I talked about the reasons in my post you quoted, but to add one more thing. We have to remember that this is meant to be an evolving product - starting from -500, and eventually containing all other CL variants and their various configs. The quality will also evolve, bugs fixed, features added, etc.

Part of the reason for subscribing is that it keeps you engaged in the project and funds these improvements for the devs. This is not a $5 trial as many like to point to. They want you to be subscribed for ages. It makes sense from that point of view - but how does it for consumers though? Would you like to pay $130, $155, $170 if you want to buy it?

So again, discounting full price with subscription is a win-win for everyone involved. But hey, that’s not where the devs are going so it’s all moot.

I read "subscription" and almost spit all my food out.   EDIT: On the other hand, $120 for all variants and freighter sounds good.

Subscribing to a plane and then getting hit with a full $120 price tag to own it is just dumb for everyone involved. Not only is it a bad deal for the user, it also means the devs are shooting th

I'd personally much rather pay the $125 if it meant (as it does in this case) that I would know, for $5, the quality of the product and the enjoyment it will bring me before spending the other $120.

When I buy a new pair of skies, I certainly demo a set for a day before buying.  I've never had the daily demo fee discounted from the sale price...

I find the $125 option appealing.  For just $5 I get to test the aircraft for a month.  If I don't like it, I save myself $115.  The developer of course thinks I will like it, so the $5 option is great for them as they gain $5.  Its a win win.

If that option is available, then that would be better for the consumer.

It is a trail if I jump ship at the $5 point.  However, it looks like the product is a good one.  I may agree with you more if the month subscription option was $30, but at $5, I consider that a win win, even if a tiny bit less of a win win than your thought 🙂

Yes - the barrier to entry is intentionally extremely low, so you're more likely to buy in and try it. It's a smart pricing strategy and I'm not sure why more devs haven't bought into it.

I promise, despite what a lot of people might think, this is a much more consumer-friendly model than $40/variant, one time purchase, for a total of $120.

The extra $5 is like an insurance policy or you could think of it as hedging your bet/investment in case it doesn't work out as well as you had hoped. It's a valid and often used real world investment strategy. Would you pay an extra $500 on a brand new car purchase that would allow you to bring the car back for a full refund within 30 days of leaving the lot? I certainly would! That extra $5 guarantees me a swift and simple resolution to walk away, if it doesn't suit me the way I had hoped. If I like it then I paid an extra $5 for the insurance policy I didn't end up using, are you really going to miss that $5? I'm certainly not...and in fact I appreciate the option being offered to me as a consumer.

Out on Sunday 🙂
