March 29, 20251 yr So we are currently having one day of summer in NJ, it was 50 yesterday, 80 today and 50 tomorrow so naturally I get to rinse off the girls... This is the first time this year off the engine block heater and battery tender and cold starting the car. Videos don't do it justice sadly but on a 4 mile track if you are on the spotting tower you can actually hear anytime I go on/off throttle anywhere on the track LOL. You can actually see the lens distort from the sound when it fires up. It's completely custom race headers and exhaust with embossed tips (watch the video until the end) as a surprise to me from guys who built it... 34 pounds and 30 HP improvement on stock so the equivalent of ~44 hp total without a tune, we have to keep stock ecu in my race class. Turn it up... Why you always store the car on old tires for the winter LOL The tires are 55 minutes old so they are done anyway. Da girls with their little sister peaking out from the garage... I'm wondering if it was some kind of electronic interference. Maybe it was just camera shake and the cameras image stabilisation just made it look a bit weird. Edited March 30, 20251 yr by martin-w

It's just that momentary loss of focus when the motor turns over. When I start the car it actually rattles the walls inside the house as well. I don't think it would be very welcome on your roads although they would be a blast to drive and in Australia I think it would just be seized. It's 118 decibels at cold start, idles around 100 db and at full tilt can exceed 130 db. It's truly obnoxious but the engineering is so incredible it's actually not that loud inside the car but I have seen other racers flinch in the car when I go past them LOL. It's just all about unrestricted airflow and because our restrictions are so stringent every 31.2 pounds we lose is 10HP and then the unrestricted airflow is another 34HP but we can't go below 3,126 pounds or modify the motor itself or the ECU so getting 44 hp out of exhaust is tremendous. Unfortunately my day did not end as well as it started and trying to take a silly shortcut I decided to stand on metal chair to try and get to a torn cabana roof and the chair gave out from under me as I was getting down. 2 fractured ribs, 2 dislocated ribs, torn rib cartilage, fractured wrist and I got home from infirmary about 3am... The worst part is the security camera caught the whole thing. March 30, 20251 yr Author Thank you @n4gix Bill, thank you @jon b... I am really feeling it today. They said the bones will probably heal quicker than the torn rib cartilage. I sneezed before and it was enough to see stars. Could always be worse, counting my luck stars and more upset with myself than anything! Thank you gents. Have a Wonderful Day -Paul Solk
March 31, 20251 yr I also live in NJ. Beautiful weather the past couple of days. Referring to the 4 mile road course, are you referring to VIR Grand Course? Not many 4 mile tracks around. I'm assuming you must have raced at NJMP before? I've done track days and Superbike school on the Thunderbolt course, loads of fun! BTW, feel better. Cracked ribs and cartilage suck. I once fell down the stairs and the edge of the step karate chopped mt left quad. Couldn't walk properly for a week. 18 hours ago, psolk said: don't think it would be very welcome on your roads Well, in Guernsey we do have the famous hill climb up La Val de Terres. Its noisy and smelly. How would your car handle it? Usually held on a bank holiday. Somebody usually redesigns their car, courtesy of a granite wall. Havelett Bay starting point. April 18, 20251 yr Author Wow @martin-w I would love this, very cool!!! Unfortunately just saw the Dr and indeed the wrist has a bad fracture, hand has a couple of crushed bones and damaged thumb tendon. So in addition to the ribs I'm in a hard cast for a month then they will decide if the tendon needs to be repaired. Could always be worse but this is quite difficult. Have a Wonderful Day -Paul Solk

Well, you would have to transport you and your car many thousands of miles to compete. 😧 2 hours ago, psolk said: Unfortunately just saw the Dr and indeed the wrist has a bad fracture, hand has a couple of crushed bones and damaged thumb tendon. Fell out of bed. 😁 Luckily just bruised. I do have bursitis in the shoulder though. Weight training overuse. Minor compared with your bodily shenanigans.
April 18, 20251 yr I've been a physical therapist for 31 yrs now and know hand surgeries and especially tendon repairs are quite delicate. Hopefully it heals on it's own over time. Either way, take it slow and do exactly as the hand surgeon tells you! Curious, what part of NJ are you in, e.g. North, Central or South? Tom MAKA = Make America Kind Again

Central Jersey here. I am a repeat customer with my PT. C3-C7, L3-S1 and my rt SI are all Fused in addition to Hip replacement and revision with a psoas release... And that's just the "ortho" issues... Some bad neuropathy, lost reflex and most feeling in the left foot but a firm believer it could always be worse. The hand and ribs are a difficult combo though. Certainly makes day to day living quite challenging but haven't missed a day of work so I'm getting by. Where in NJ are you? Have a Wonderful Day -Paul Solk
April 20, 20251 yr Author @martin-w transport isn't an issue, she has her own toter... For the long hauls like down to Florida I don't transport it myself... Have a Wonderful Day -Paul Solk
April 20, 20251 yr Wiscombe Hill Climb ten years ago. This place is literally a 6 minute drive up the road from me...
