Is Asobo 737 Max worth the time to try it?

Featured Replies

I've been super preoccupied getting my rig properly tuned since upgrading my CPU and so curious if this plane is worth delving into as  I'm pretty tired of testing and tweaking ad nauseum and am ready to return to my prior behavior of flying for general enjoyment and score using APL & SLC's scoring routines.  I've come to appreciate some of the very nice improvements in 2024 that are well known by others.  Right now I use Asobo Longitude and 787X, both missing liveries but otherwise work well.  I'm hoping FBW gets around to updating their Neo but if they don't I would probably wait for Fenix' version though not sure when that will be.  Def need more airliners in 2024 now.   I-Fly's 738 Max sounds like it will be great but it's not here yet.

If you tried Asobo 737 Max, is it say comparable in development to their 787X which IMO is decent enough to use regularly, just like the Longitude.

Oh yeah, try and keep your hands well away from that trim wheel!

Or your knees... I learned that the hard way when I was doing my 737 type rating we had the handles out to manually run the trim and after than maneuver my sim partner reset the trim and my knee was in the way of the still out handle....Yea had a decent burse for a week or so right on my knee cap, it didn't help that the flap selector was down at the time so the trim was also moving at high rates....

It's "flyable" 🙂

At least we can now properly set the XPDR ...

Oh, cool was that w/ the SU beta, which I'm not in?  I tried it, wasn't bad, but closed down after unable to give XPDR to BATC.  Is then then only for beta users?

Thanks!

Yes, only in the Beta.

General observations regarding the 737:
The 737 is quite pretty, the cockpit looks good and most buttons, levers etc. work as they should. So it is good for learning, I think. Autothrust is chasing quite a lot but apart from that LNAV, VNAV and approaches (with chasing AT 🙂) work fine. Handflying on approach I found the plane very shaky and flying ike a Cessna. But that might be only my impression because I usually fly the Airbusses which have a totally different control philosophy and require only minimal input at approach.

Wait for the iFly Max, don't waste your time with the Asobo version.

It’s a lot better in SU2. I’ve done 2 flights in it so far.

It doesn’t cost extra to get it so just try it and see if you like it.

If you don’t want to opt into the beta then wait for the official release to try it

Thanks, I've tried it but had to abort when all of the avionics on the bottom console were not active and could not find a way to input the transponder numbers for use in BATC so bailed.

The only major and irritating problem I have with it is how to properly load it thgrough the EFB, but apparently this last update 1.4.10.0 has finally made the ZFW and FUEL fields available to fill in totals !!!

Previously they were fill with ridiculously low numbers and I couldn't get around it - rather irritating.

Also, just like another user wrote above, it is rather sensible in roll, I'd say unrealistically sensible...

that's all fixed in SU2. That's why I said to wait if you're not in the beta
