What I know is that each Xp12 user is worth 10 MSFS users, so, let's just apply that factor !

Xp12 WINS !!!!

something like 97% of xplane users are on android or ios (some 100million users total).

They dont engage with this survey for the same reason avsim doesnt have hundreds of millions of people posting. Their interest doesnt stretch far enough to complete the survey.

It doesn't mean there is anything "wrong" with the survey, just that that particular type of flightsimmers views are under represented - don't expect to use it to infer the behaviours of people who don't really care that much about flight sim.... but that should have been obvious already.

I kinda sorta think we're saying something similar...?

Navigraph makes it clear that the survey is limited (they usually put in almost a page at the end explaining why).

It is we, the Super Fans, who put too much Confidence & generalized Validity into the results.

A resulting concern, though, is that the express purpose of this survey is to inform developers of what "flight simmers" want.

But this survey is skews so heavily over to Airliners that I wonder how many of the devs believe that it's truly representative....?

Goran has shared with us that devs have their own groups, and undoubtedly talk shop, it seems MS shares at least some guidance for success, and I'd hope LR does the same.

For anything like this type of industry guidance, devs really need a broad set of data that can only come from a statistically representative sample, which can't come from this surveys incomplete sample.

Jorg tends to be open with statistics on their Developer live streams. He said, two-thirds of users were on MSFS 2024 and one-third were on MSFS 2020. The xbox/pc split was like 60/40, or something like that, which indicates that they are underrepresentation going on in the survey.

Another really interesting nugget he shared is that Career Mode is insanely popular - far and away again more so than they ever imagined. IIRC, he said something like 50% of players are using it(!).

But again, to hear it from social buzz & news reporting (and I'm not even sure it was addressed in Navigraph...? I answered X-Plane, so might not have gotten the branching question presented...?), you'd swear that Career Model is the biggest disaster to ever befall a video game!

There are certain sales tactics people will use to boost sales.  I'm not saying Jorg is using these tactics.  I'm just saying these tactics exist.

Yep - grains of salt (and pepper) in abundance! What Jorge & gang (and EVERY executive) say in public has quite a different cast than what they say in private 👍

Which, despite my cautions in re the Navigraph survey and even Steam stats, means they're still quite valuable "indicators".

E.g., the parable of the blind men & the elephant 😁

I didn't say anything about the survey results, so we've not really had a good chance to disagree on anything yet 😉

I don't think there are any particular surprises in this one.

cross sim results broadly in line with user sentiment and steam stats. xplane grown its market share, but no big moves from last year.

personally reassuring to see the investment that has been going into autoatc is going to go down well.

By now, I wish I could limit myself to just two or three aircraft. I'm even at the point of a self-imposed add-on purchase embargo, no matter how steep the discount because I simply do not have enough available flying time to do each one justice. 😬

My add-ons from my FS9/FSX days

Not quiet same, but I fly a lot less and have so many choices. And the few planes id like to see are no where in site like a real decent Twin otter, A naval T45, Q300...

Not holding my breath. There are nice freeware  around of them.

A naval T45

I'd could get by if Just Flight / Thranda would update the Hawk for v12! 🙂

But, yeah, a genuine T-45C Hi Fi addon for X-Plane would be sweet

(the one in ToS is utterly gorgeous, but quite shallow and unsatisfying).

The free one for DCSW performs much better with deeper systems, just hasn't been updated in about 3 years...

Well, I can only fly one at a time.  That being said, rather tongue in cheek, I do have a hanger full just waiting to rotate through the "flying now" category.

Toliss currently keeps me occupied quite well.  Hard to believe I was a 20+year die hard Boeing fan in my other sims.

Honeycomb Alpha & Bravo, Thrustmaster TFRP. It's an older machine but gets the job done quite nicely - smooth with no stutters!
