OK. I'm all set up but am using my old Pro Pedals while I await the return of the Winwing rudder pedals. I have X-Plane 12 up and running and am looking to get MSFS 2024 and have come to the Steam or MS Store decision. I've read some threads, most of which were older when 2024 was new and crowded. So, which is the way to go and what are the pros and cons of each?

Thanks.

Steam, 100% Steam especially after recent MS Store issues.

If you like Steam, go that route... else get it from the Store.

Thanks for your reply. I've never used Steam so don't know if I'd like it. Pros? Cons?

Thanks for your reply. What are the store issues. What I read didn't elaborate.

Recent issues with wiping of game folders due to a botched update, plus other minor issues I never had with steam, overall steam is simply better.

If you are going to put msfs2024 on both Xbox Console and PC, then the store version on a PC means msfs and all the assets purchased in the marketplace for it on PC, will be free of all charges on the Xbox console. Same thing if moving from store console to store PC.

I have never used Steam either, and just got my copies (2020 and 2024) from the MS Store.

That was for Beta users, as best I recall...  I was one of them..

If you’re starting from scratch, go for the steam version. Fewer restrictions as far as modding and protected files are concerned. Easy and quick to get installed and updated. I went with the store version with 2020, so going store again was necessary to be able to maintain marketplace purchases. Steam is a far more reliable ecosystem.

Not true. I have the MS Store version of MSFS 2020 and the Steam version of MSFS 2024. When you use the same Microsoft account for both platforms all your purchases from the marketplace are there.

Thanks. I'm only using PC.

Thanks to all for valuable information. I'll give it another day or so for any other responses then make a decision.

The MS Store version hands down.

Because? They're both very similar, but I find Steam to be less of a hassle. Why is MS Store 'hands down' for you? Might help the OP 😉
