Justflight RJ Professional MSFS - Is it worth it?

Featured Replies

I am with Paul on this one. I want plenty of systems depth, but I have never been interested in simulated failures.

Well Gents, it appears the consensus is that it is a fine aircraft, so on all of the the positive response from this topic. I will purchase it. I thank you all for your honesty and comments - all have

It probably won't happen. Martyn (Was it him?) basically said when they added it to the B146 they saw very very little uptake on using those features so didn't think it was worthwhile to do the same f

As @xender says, what don't you like about the 146?  The RJ has more automation and I would recommend it to anyone, as I would the 146.

Just to add another opinion....

I have both the 146 and Avro, and I like the Avro better.
Not anything related to how both aircrafts where developed (both are excellent) but about the state of automation.
For me the 146 is a tiny bit too 'manual/manually(?)', like the DC9.

The Avro and likewise aircraft like the 737-Classic, Fokker 70/100, MD80 etc, just have enough automation but not too much like modern aircraft.
For me that is the sweet spot.

It's all about personal preference, @JustanotherPilot .  They are both splendidly well modelled sims of two splendid real-life aircraft types.  As a passenger (at one stage in my life, I was a frequent user of both types) they were firm favourites of the european city-hop commuter fraternity.

In MSFS, I have both.  If I had to choose one, I'm with @Egbert Drenth above, for the exact same reasons.  But it depends what you are after.  They are both superb.

Great aircraft — a nice balance between automation and hands-on flying. But there’s a lack of documentation and examples to help choose the right procedures.

I think there should be some kind of feedback indicating whether you're flying correctly or not. Simulated failures are one way to do it, but it is too complex.
It would be perfect for me, systems started failing when SOP are violated. Right now whether I ventilate the cabin using the APU with one PACK or two — nothing happens.
I remember the DO-27 for FSX used to give a post-flight report - throttle too abrupt, oil temp out of limits, ideal.

Not as convenient to land as similar  airplanes - everything else is excellent and very pleasant.

I prefer the Fokker 28 a tiny bit but both ac are fine Just Flight quality.

This is a random update for people who are like me and have been waiting for the JF BAE 146 to have updated compatibility w/ MSFS2024: I found a comment from Martyn w/ JF on Reddit from May 3rd saying they were hoping to release the update "...in the next month or two, including lots of improvements based on our RJ work." So hopefully very soon!

Carry on.

I probably would have bought the 146 first if it was available for 2024 but I bought the RJ and I think it would take something like a big discount to persuade me to get the 146 as well now. The RJ is just outstanding.

I am waiting for the pitch oscillation fix for the RJ Professional before it can leave the hangar. I have not seen or heard anything more about this since JustFlight confirmed that the problem exists.

I've almost given in and bought the RJ, but I actually prefer the lack of automation in the 146 and already own it so I've been patiently waiting for the free port-over.
