May 13, 20251 yr Just went back to Discord and says I still don't have permission to post messages so will ask here. In the upper instrument panel area, where MACH TRK LAT ALT display, it's just so dim and haven't found any brightness controls for the characters displayed there. Also, the big Fenix splash screens with the login for this plane and some other document that appears during flight launch in 2024. Any way to make that go away? May 13, 20251 yr There are brightness controls for the FCU on the underside of the glareshield IIRC. David Porrett
May 13, 20251 yr Exactly what @DavidP replied. The one for the brightness of the FCU digits is, for the captain, just underneath the junction between the central glareshield and the left panel. Yes the black rotary on the bottom of the glareshield (the right one of the two). You need to go close to see them, they are pretty hidden For transparency: I'm a community mentor at the BATC discord. However, I do not get paid for it in any way.

May 14, 20251 yr Unfortunately, this is one of those areas where the “experimental” nature of the Fenix release for 2024 does not provide optimal results. Of course, the brightness of the cockpit view can be improved thru the Nvidia brightness filter, but that introduces a balancing insofar as how much increase you can tolerate with your external views. Hope this is remedied when there is the official release for 2024. Rich

The Nvidia Details filter's 'HDR Toning' slider helps more selectively than does the Brightness/Contrast filter in my experience. Still though the max brightness is just out of sync w/ brightness maximums in glass panels. I know they're different but still, not good IMO. Actually they should be entirely different in brightness from the main display as one is a back-lit LCD, the other is front-lit 7-segment with a much dimmer light (I've spent hours photographing both in real A32X aircraft during bright sunshine, cloudy days, and the darkness of night with calibrated exposures and colour charts). The two are very different technologies and to 'sync' them in brightness with eachother would be a step back in the simulation. With this said, BFU will bring some improved simulation to the visuals for back-lit and front-lit displays, with the latter being more physically accurate than what MSFS has previously allowed devs to simulate.

Sure, I understand and understood that glass panels are completely different. I, however, will always opt for using a little poetic license when it comes down to making a desktop sim more enjoyable by for example making characters readable, even if less than authentic. Therein lies the difference between real and virtual worlds. Some are authenticity fanatics, but that's not me. What's "BFU"? Dave, for some reason I'm not able to post mssgs on your Discord channel. I would love to ask a couple of questions I've not found answers to on the FAQ, private messaged Joshua there, and still no reply.
