MSFS 2024 PSXT makes cockpit sounds disappear

Featured Replies

I was having problems with cockpit sounds disappearing, especially in the PMDG 777...button clicks, chimes, callouts etc.

Worked through a number of things and the only thing that made them come back was shutting down PSXT. Anyone else had the same?

Happens to me if I use psxt with fsltl base models. Now using aig for the models and no longer have the issue.

Same here, using FSLTL base models but, oddly enough, it doesn't occur all the time.

Are AIG models better?

I’m pretty sure it’s because the sim has a limit to how many sounds can be simulated at once. Once the amount of traffic goes beyond that limit it starts cutting out other sounds. My tests show it’s around 60-80 aircraft.

OOPS, should have specified my experiences are 2020 ONLY.

Happens to me at only a couple of airports, but especially bad at Flightbeam KDEN - limiting traffic mitigates the problem. I'm curious if others experience this issue with Flightbeam KDEN?

I've experienced it at inibuilds EGLL and KJFK.

Is this the same issue that we used to have in MSFS 2020 with SimObjects having a limit? Would it be something that MSFS will address?

So it does appear the more AI aircraft, the less sounds in the flight deck (PMDG 777). I've started using BeyondATC and even this program at high levels of AI disables sounds in the flight deck.

Is there any way in PSXT or BeyondATC to set traffic limits to ensure sound isn't lost in the flight deck?

Surely MSFS should disable other sounds (like those of AI aircraft) before stopping sounds from the flight deck?

PSXT does not generate sounds. It is the aircraft models of the AI aircraft it injects in MSFS that do that.

But it is very easy in PSXT to set traffic limits. Please read the Manual or use my Forum at AVSIM.

This is Asobo we are talking about. Things will not be intuitive as a rule.

Same issue in 2020

An update either on PSXT side or MSFS messed up the audio. I fly out of KORD often. I have it set at 50%. Its always been that way. I use FSLTL library. Never changed it. When I load up PSXT, once it loads all of the traffic, I suddenly have no MSFS sounds, no menu, no cockpit, nothing. I hear plenty of AI, as I always have. As soon as I close PSXT, I have MSFS sounds again. I don't know what the limits are or how the two programs communicate, but what I do know to be fact:

PSXT not running, MSFS sounds.
PSXT running, No MSFS sounds.

I have since reduced traffic to 25%. No change in audio problem, but when I close PSXT.... voila!

Oh... and yes, all of my audio settings are correct. Is there something in the parameters or are we blaming this on MSFS.
Also, my sound issue is more recent than previous posts in this thread. I was not having any issues at the beginning of June.

I'm putting my money on a sound limit within the sim combined with using the FSLTL models. As mentioned before, PSXT doesn't add sounds to your traffic AT ALL.

The FSLTL sounds however are horrible as it is.

It is...  You can also get it at airports that have their own terminal sounds etc.  DD KEWR used to do this to me every flight until I removed the airport scenery sounds... Never had an issue since.

Pay attention to what airports it happens at and if they have their own sounds.

Have a Wonderful Day
