Airliner XP - Still in Development?

Featured Replies

Sure is slow development on this project. I don't think it will ever happen. Many want a nice Airbus that actually works correctly.

They made the mistake of giving release dates, time frames, etc. PMDG learned that lesson a long time ago, sure they got hounded about the MD-11, but when they had news, they at least showed SOMETHING. You can't close the forums, never give an updates, and be surprised when people still ask "is this still alive?"

Their obviously false initial release speculation (was it Q3, 2006??) in response to Wilco's A320 release did nothing to improve their credibility - then came the excuses. One thing that annoys me with developers is that they deliberately give the impression that a product is imminent or "Coming Soon" (what is "Soon"), then complain when simmers request more information, release dates etc. etc., then patronise everyone with the "when its ready" line (aided and abetted by the a really excited user base).Deliberately feeding speculation, then complaining because of the response does no-one any good.David

I'm honestly wondering if the Airsimmer Airbus will ever come out either. They left their forum up but they've been saying "Release is very soon" for who knows how long. If you say anything about it the fan boys hanging out there will destroy you.At this point I don't care whose is out first, I'll just get it, I want a good A320 and Wilco's does not deliver.

==========================================================================================================================================================================================One year later... ...now it's (nearly) December 2009Any word? The Airliner XP website is kaput. http://www.airliner-xp.com/Has anyone heard anything? Are all the principal players doing OK?

It's been dead for long time, IMO. Too bad really. The programming genius of Jean-Luc with what he accomplished with the TAWS and the other team members, along with the visuals we were shown tell me it could have been groundbreaking and wonderful. Almost feels like a waste of talent to be honest.

Is Jean-Luc still around? I'm pretty sure Lou dropped out of FS altogether. -Alex

AirlinerXP has given up long ago, and Airsimmer is on the best way to sink as well - a real pity. I gave up all hope to see a well done A320 in FS ever (well, a tiny hope that PMDG makes a A320 one day is still in a remote back corner of my mind)...Seems to be a question of development costs: As long as people expect an A320 sim to be available at EUR/US$ 50,- I guess nobody will develop one. Who's willing to pay 500-1000 US$? I for my part would be prepared to pay a reasonable amount of money for a good plane simulation - well beyond EUR/US$ 50,- Good products have their price and aren't for everybody. But in times like these...Andreas
