While I get the frustration and agree that development seems kind of slow, that is not entirely true. A few days ago, they released a new build to collectors (not public yet) with over 130 changelog items, including the newly coded PW engines. Tested it and the plane works fine, but there are still some bugs, for example thrust axis overly sensitive in the lower region is one that I remember, but no deal-breaker. I guess the update will be released to the public very soon. The upcoming art update is independant from the systems and will come eventually. I don't think it's their main focus, but people asked for better visuals (and sounds), so they will improve it. In my opinion, the plane is just a little bit overpriced, but they haven't abandoned it and they're getting there, even if progress is slow. When you talk about P3D, I remember, it was kind of the same. The 717 was a fine plane, but there was a very long lasting nasty bug with CTDs which took them a while until they solved it (CTD if you switched views). After they fixed this bug (which took quite some time IIRC, they initially said they couldn't fix it), the 717 was one of the best performing planes ever in P3Dv4, until P3Dv5 came and it was one of most VRAM-hungry products ever existed. So the 717 was also a rollercoaster of positive and negative feelings. Their MD-11 in comparison is way more complex and ambitioned, the 717 was more a simplified ("Aerosoft"-level) type of product. I'm sure the MD-11 will be solid product at some point, but they should have taken more time to finish it. They're still committed, even if it's rather silent. Edited June 22, 2025Jun 22 by roesti

Basically everything @CAP1234 said here - it's just a woefully unpolished aircraft, textures don't look great, AP/AT hunt like crazy, PW engines are missing over a year later. The 717 felt like a bait and switch. It was released *completely* broken, fixed over a year later to a reasonable degree, but had major .dll and VRAM issues resulting in random crashes for years after it got ported to v4 (the only sim that could handle the VRAM issues lol). Once it went to V5, for me at least, totally broken, allocating all the VRAM and performing at maybe 5 FPS, but by that point it was "end of life" and they were "focusing on the MD-11" - that was over 5 years ago. For the MD-11 to be in such an unimpressive state, wouldn't that make you a bit resentful with the 717 experience in mind? This is a classic "Fell For It Again Award" situation I've put myself in, unfortunately.

You’re just confirming the same extremely disappointing experience I had with the 717 here. If they can’t be trusted to walk, why do we think they can run? You’re hitting on another big issue with this dev - they shook the CE people down on credit that they’d deliver, introduced artificial scarcity to sell licenses faster, and STILL over a year later, those of us who bought standard licenses have a different, subpar product. It’s been months without a patch and if they’re pushing fixes, months later, to you guys and not shipping them - that’s a problem. It means they’ve implemented a Two Tier system. That’s as instructive about their business practices as anything else, IMO. It’s a really hard one to stay confident about. I just wrote it off months ago.
June 23, 2025Jun 23 Are they planning to do the 717 for 2024? Or is that like....waaaaay down the road from where we are? I eventually really liked the aircraft in p3d days. AMD 5830X Nvidia RTX 3060 Win 11
October 21, 2025Oct 21 How are people able to get it working in fs2024? I tried and nothing works. Only the EFB works Marco D'Agostino
