July 4, 2025Jul 4 TFDI have announced they do NOT plan to bring the latest texture updates they have been working on to P3D (not a major issue for me) or the PW engine update that they have previously mentioned in their public announcements (that is really disappointing). More info here: https://tfdidesign.com/store/announcements/34/TFDi-Design-MD-11-One-Year-On-and-Looking-to-the-Future-.html On the positive side, the Simulation Extension Package with another level of functionality and failure is apparently still in the plan although their timeline for completion has been way off. There is also a commitment (I hope they honor it) to continue to address major issues with the P3D sim version. I will cross my fingers but not hold my breath as TFDi have not really delivered in my view, a complete package for P3D users that paid a lot of money for this highly lauded, study level aircraft. We are now months since the commercial launch last year and there are still major product issues both functionality wise (my biggest beef is the inaccurate fuel burn that plagues every flight but I know others still suffer with significant VRAM issues due to high texture load) and cosmetics. Granted there have been several updates since then, but the state of the aircraft in P3D is still a lot to be desired. I will be very reticent on purchasing any other future TFDi product if TFDi fails to come through on their current promise. July 5, 2025Jul 5 Disapointing for sure for P3D users but it shouldn't be a surprise at all. Those days, even msfs is fading off as most devs focus on msfs24 exclusively. So If devs even start to drop msfs, do not expect them to blink an eye for P3D. Add-ons are so complex those days that focusing on two sims are time and money consuming. So, imagine focusing on 3 sims. Edited July 5, 2025Jul 5 by sdirand
July 6, 2025Jul 6 That's a shame. I had hoped to purchase this aircraft once they added the PW engines and it's other major issues were resolved. In real aviation we have a rule, it's a good rule. Always have an out. Should the day come (and it will) that M$ decides flight sim is no longer sufficiently profitable, they'll drop it like a burning fuel tank. JAFO

"Out" means "alternate", which does NOT mean "preferred". There will always be other flight simulation alternatives, just as there always have been.

I think it will be more difficult to find an alternative with addons and having all kind of aircraft, civil, military, GA. Somehow LM and Microsoft drove this car into the wall. All other competitors vanished. July 7, 2025Jul 7 Here is a good alternative that might fill the MD-11-PW void. It is a Justflight DC-10 Mod. I'm about halfway into installing this Mod, but so far it feels like a totally different airplane. You will need the SGA DC-10 Air file for each model, such as sga1010.air, sga1030.air, and sga1040.air, for the links to those files contained in the Mod installation guide are dead. They can be found in the simviation library. Just download any SGA DC-10 and submodel. BTW, there was also a PBR mod for this DC-10. If anyone has a link, please DM me, and or share it here in this thread 🙂. Edited July 7, 2025Jul 7 by MonkeyWings
July 7, 2025Jul 7 I could tolerate minor issues, maybe even some not so minor ones. But the lack of an entire engine variant is no word not allowed good. I'm not paying you for that. I do hope they reconsider that part at least. JAFO

I would have tolerated a year delay for it.

Has both engines, yes not study level, but is the TFDi version that better? Certainly the Skysim MD-11 is newer than Justflights DC-10, which I also have and love. The mod works great after some work to apply it. Finally a big fix update from TFDi! Yeah, I miss the sim platform in their Change Log. too! I did notice one specific P3D fix mentioned for the EFB not updating ZFW properly. Hopefully that's the fix where ZFW would could not be set above 76tons (at least in the -F variant I have). will have to try this out.
