Rex Atmos Core For Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024

Featured Replies

I don’t know. The thing I disliked the most about the last version for 2020 is how much tinkering I had to do. I’d much prefer if it “learned” what I should be seeing and then just does it automatically. I don’t want to sit here imagining things to mess with sliders always.

I’ll get it, just wish they worked on that portion a bit.

Looking at this image and the text below it which states " Adjusted cloud shader appearance, cloud lighting, ozone, and rayleigh scattering" and well as "fixed atmospheric blending and recolored the enviroment", has me believe that the whole point of this addon is to be able to apply these changes dynamically based on the temp, season, humidity, etc that is present in msfs live weather and "fix" the visuals.  I had no idea that this meant I would have to do all this manually, for EVERY WEATHER CHANGE!  What on earth is the point of this?  For pretty screenshots?  This program has zero utility for flight simulation purposes unless I am missing something.

Exactly. I’m not going to sit here adjusting things every flight to what “think” it should look like.

Not, only that. IMO the default before picture looks far better. Look at how much detail is lost in the foliage at the bottom of the picture. Also, the highlights in the clouds are gone. They look quite lifeless.

There are a few "enhancements" that I can see posted on their website, but, in my opinion, MSFS is actually doing a much better job. From 10 pics, I favor five MSFS renderings. In this case, for me, it is a pass.

The real power of Atmos Core is now emerging with published presets and screenshots (Rex Discord channel). The sliders are used effectively rather than yanking the sliders from one extreme to the other and dismissing functionality.

Precisely.  They need to analyze the data and set the visuals based on that data.  I do see the benefit of it, if they do that.

I know I am going to sound stupid here, but how do I actually apply one of the pre-sets that are showing in the community ones? I have been saving one as a favourite then from there selecting the arrow key which indicates it will load every time I fire up MSFS2024. Can't I just pick one and load it?

Thanks
