BlackSquare TBM 850 repaints in MSFS 2024

Featured Replies

I'm trying to repaint the BlackSquare TBM for MSFS 2024 and was able to get one done using Blender and the paintkit available at Flightsim.to.  It works in 2020, however it just shows a white texture in 2024.

I see that several folks have new 2024 liveries for the 850.  What do I need to do to convert it to 2024?

Look for Flak's converter on flightsim.to

Basically it will take a PNG and convert it to ktx2 and generate all the associated json files too.

For me it looks like that the 850 is another (just) "legacy" native 2024 product so not fully native (even if that is not really defined). So its still using the old livery structure of a 2020 addon including the aircraft.cfg BUT you have to convert your textures to .ktx2 and matching .ktx2.json to get it shown correctly.

(see Ryans comment above also for tooling)

Its not easy to find. I spent a good 15 or 20 minutes before I landed on the correct words in the search that would display the file. Thank you for the recommendation, I am about to give it a try to see if it will allow me to convert any of my own 2020 repaints over to 2024. I am certain the file will work fine, much less certain if my old feeble mind will figure it out.

I had no luck in my first attempt.....  Will re-read the instructions and try again tomorrow.

I'm guessing your textures are probably still in dds format.  They will work in compatibility mode in FS2024 as long as you have the correct settings in your texture.cfg file.  Have a look at some examples from flightsim.to and if you have any trouble getting yours to work, get back to me by DM and I will help you out.

Would you please be kind enough to expand on this a bit?

I managed to convert my PNGs using Flak's converter and the aircraft now is available but all the white textures are yellow and the blue tail is black......

OK, I figured it out - I put the PNGs in the NORM folder, not the ALBD folder and reran.  All is good.

Thanks for the help!

None of all the wonderful liveries for theTBM850 package version 0.1.4 uploaded during the past days for MSFS2024 are working for me!

All are KTX2 textures.

They don't show any registrations but empty black or white fields on fuselage end or vertical stab.

What I am doing wrong? Can I change any settings?

I am on SU3

Sadly, the dynamic registration is not working properly in MSFS 2024. Apparently, this issue will be resolved in SU4.

For now, it is recommended that you disable the  dynamic registration via the tablet and use a livery with a painted registration number instead.
