FlightSimGames PC-6 Porter Now Available

The BB Porter really is the gold standard, not just as a Porter but as a flight model in general.  It was the first plane for 2020 that struck me as feeling anything like an airplane, and it's still great in 24 even though it's not even been updated.  It would take a lot to surpass that, but I do love Porters so I might try this.

  • Slightly strangely they seem to have integrated the PMS into the heart of their avionics and the GNS530/430 combo won't actually work without the PMS in the community folder.    It is well

Can't comment on the flight model or any of the serious stuff, but this is a beautifully modelled aircraft and works perfectly fine for me in my non-pilot world.

Just read some early comments from AVAngel on Got Friends Discord and it’s not looking good. From her brief comments, it appears there are some issues and seems unfinished! She has filmed a review so should be posted on YouTube soon.

Makes me want to reinstall the Milviz one to be honest.

Yeah, it’s quite disappointing that this is was released in its current state. They needed to nail it to compete with the Milviz and it sounds like they didn’t deliver. A shame it’s not fully 2024 native and that they didn’t implement a functioning Beta range. I like the Milviz version a lot, but was hoping these guys after four years would release something that surpassed it, especially since Blackbird isn’t releasing a 2024 native version. But based on her review, it seems FlightSimGames released a superfluous version instead. Maybe they will continue to develop it, but it’s a no go for me for now. I’ll keep flying the Milviz.

Unlike AvAngel's video, both the 530 and the 750 units function properly on my system. Maybe an issue with AvAngel's setup rather than a problem with FSG's release

I'm also not articular fan of AvAngel. Will wait for more reviews

No beta?  Well, that's a deal killer right there, no matter what else they might have done.  Shame.

I have been using the aircraft for the last few days, and IT DOES HAVE BETA.

If you can walk away it's a good landing

That's interesting, although there are beta range engine sounds I didn't get reverse thrust last time - I'll have another look at this later.

BTW, are your avionics functioning correctly?

Just tested again and, yes Dissy is correct, it does have beta 👍

I hope AvAngel has another look at this aircraft and removes her video review - it includes important errors and will damage FSG's sales and reputation

Interesting.  Just to clarify, it has beta available to be used during a descent, in flight?  Or are we just talking about beta / reverse on the ground like any turboprop?

Andrew Crowley

I've just read the comments on AvAngel's video, someone there says beta can be used in an inflight descent. Looks like mapping the controls properly is important of course.

Unusually you need the  PMS750 (free version will do) for the avionics to work.

I think the video commentary should edited to include more info on these issues.

It's in German. Go to 35 minutes in.
