October 15, 2025Oct 15 Totally agree - however, the wood and glass boxes would have been harder to keep clean ... EXCEPT THAT the new ones are not cleaned regularly anyway; and delinquent parents have allowed a generation (or two now?) to grow up without sufficient (or any?) respect for others, for others' property, let alone for public property. Finally, not many people need to use public phones any more now, so there are probably too few public funds are being spent on maintaining the ones that remain. October 15, 2025Oct 15 The last phone box in my area was removed around 5 years ago. Unfortunately, they just become a magnet for antisocial behavior since they hardly get used anymore. Interestingly, where I live in Devon. There are still several small rural villages that still have working phone red boxes. But the majority have been turned into small libraries with some even being used to house defibrillators.

October 16, 2025Oct 16 Phone booths disappeared from the U.S. long ago. Even in the late 1970's there were few phone booths remaining and that caused some issues for Mr. Kent.
