November 4, 2025Nov 4 Any solutions to only giving about 92% power on the N1 and taking about 7000 feet to 9000 feet runway to takeoff in the Captain Sim 717? N1 never increases past 92% power for me. Anyone else have had issues with takeoff in the CS 717? I basically have to start my flight spawned on a runway for a good takeoff in Free Flight. Am using the 717 in MSFS 2024 from the Marketplace and for MSFS 2020 on the CS website. Are you talking about the water spray deflector behind the nose wheel? That prevents water ingestion into the engines. Some tail mounted engine jets, such as the gulfstreams I fly, has the nose wheel chimed to deflect the water by the tires themselves. Rick D http://g5flyer.tumblr.com/
November 5, 2025Nov 5 Author Ah, so that's what the noseheel thingy is, a deflector for preventing water ingestion. November 6, 2025Nov 6 Blah Blah Blah. Do not buy Captain Sim with no helpful advice. Ye we all know Captain Sim Quality. But I actually like v2 of the B717. They went back and did a lot of custom work like they did with the C-130. Are you following the actual checklist? Or just winging it? For take off Flaps/Slats at 13. Make sure take off trim is in the green. Are you actually setting up a flight plan in the FMC? or just pushing up full throttle with 50% fuel loaded as default? Do you have the Auto Throttle toggle assigned in MSFS/FS24 so that you can turn ATS on and OFF? AUTO FLIGHT does not automatically arm ATS. I'll check what it looks like for me. I just kinda fly it from memory. But I can take off at PHLI just fine. 3 and 35 are both 6500 ft and I'm usually up at 5000 feet when loaded with fuel to get to Maui. Try just not using Auto Throttle. Also, just firewall it and see if you can get the throttle N1 higher. Mine tops out at 98.6% N1. May have something to do with your throttle quadrant settings. November 6, 2025Nov 6 Thanks for your comment. I bought the B717 with my eyes wide open & I got a lot of flack from armchair critics, most of whom probably haven't tried it. I think that it's fine within its limitations. I fly aircraft for fun and I don't get worried if it's not study level.

Use the sim as you want and to hell with them. You paid for it! Rob (but call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind). I fly aircraft for fun and I don't get worried if it's not study level. I fly in all sorts of different aircraft in the sim. Sometimes flying just for fun in cheaper, simpler aircraft, yet other times flying in the most complex Study level aircraft. The most important thing is to have fun flight simming, otherwise we'll move onto something that we have more fun doing. Ah ha-wasn't doing all of that at first. Am using a TCA sidestick, not a throttle quadrant, will check my TCA settings in-sim. The setting is SLATS as in slats extended on the leading edge, and FLAPS 13 is the flaps on the trailing edge are at 13 degrees. The 737 also uses an increased flap setting at hawaiian airports or airports like Midway depending on weight. Is this airplane perfect? No but I worked extensively with them to get EY at CS to fix a lot of stuff. He probably got annoyed but in the end they actually put in McDonell Douglas callouts and better sounds and fixed all the flight issues. I will say what you see now is a far cry from how bad it was when initially released. It was definetely not worth the money when intitally released. Were you able to get an ILS landing done? That is what most people complain about, but it actually does work fine. I think it now flys and looks better than a 25 dollar plane.
