November 13, 2025Nov 13 Moderator I've had this view setup for a while but today decided to use it when taxiing around the airport as well as when airborne and on a/p. It really adds to the immersion when taxiing. No more squinting through the windscreen. You don't need any of your instruments when taxiing, just hands on the throttle and feet on the rudder and brakes. Although this is an airborne shot inbound to Tucson it's even more immersive when on the ground. Try it! This with a PMDG737-800. Ray (Cheshire, England). I positioned it just outside the cockpit so you can see the nose for getting your bearings. So a nose camera really. Ray (Cheshire, England). November 13, 2025Nov 13 Anyone know when 2024 support for CP is coming? Threads like these are driving me nuts. PS - Love that view Ray - just jealous.
November 13, 2025Nov 13 Author Moderator @Tony P, thanks. I can only assume it’s because the SDK is not sufficiently complete to allow the CP author to make it work. Maybe post on the Microsoft forum or ask the CP developer. It’s not as though there isn’t the interest. Ray (Cheshire, England). November 13, 2025Nov 13 I never tried Chase Plane but I plan to at some point. It would be nice to be able to easily make custom camera views. It’s incredibly easy with CP. It was lauded when it came out all those years ago. P3D may lack the impressive scenery of MSFS but the SDK is very comprehensive. It’s now available on ORBX at a great price. https://parallel42.com/products/chaseplane-legacy?srsltid=AfmBOopqSVSlCnNdFwdxNIsIXGMF5KcSWhpKGRfQxRiCwthOuckiQhfU Be aware a recent Windows update introduced a bug which the author has advised he won’t fix. Understandable really as Microsoft caused it. A simple toggle on / off in Preferences solves it and lasts the whole session. I just include it in my setup procedure. It’s no hassle. Here’s the info in my post but the credit goes to @simfan1983for the discovery. https://www.avsim.com/forums/topic/669193-chaseplane-unusable-since-a-few-days/page/14/#findComment-5491802 Ray (Cheshire, England). November 14, 2025Nov 14 ChasePlane is the void in MSFS 2024 … I fear Asobo think they can do better … I’ve got news for them, nope! Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence. - Carl Sagan

Well, considering that FSRealistic+ for 2024 was just announced with d deep interconnection with ChasePlane, I assume that a CP release would not be that far of. It is already available for 2020 anyway. 9 hours ago, Ray Proudfoot said: It’s incredibly easy with CP. It was lauded when it came out all those years ago. While I might purchase CP to gain access to a seamless fly-by camera, what has been showcased here is easily achievable with Asobo‘s built-in camera system. One must also say that such a nose camera, that I also have, makes it even more important to have quality scenery when flying. Probably depends on your altitude. The shot above was taken around 12,000-15,000 ft but the terrain made it interesting. Best impact is on the ground taxiing. Ray (Cheshire, England). Assuming you have a captain (left seat) view click on the Camera option on the left and where you see the name of the camera name (Captain?) click + just to the left. That creates a new camera preset. Type NoseCamera or something like that. Press Enter to save it. You want to move the camera forward so click the FWD / BWD slider or move it with your mouse until you're outside the cockpit. Then Lateral will move you to the left or right as required. Up / Down raises the camera position. You shouldn't need Roll, Tilt or Zoom but it doesn't cost anything to try them until you get the view you want. When you're happy click the green tick mark to save the view. Back on the Presets menu right click each view to assign a key to it. Alternatively, use the Button option. Ray (Cheshire, England). I hope you are correct, but I do know Keven and the owner of //42 ... apparently the 2024 SDK presented some problems for Keven. But here is hoping they were solved! ChasePlane ease of use and control assignment was and is 100X better than trying to accomplish the same via MSFS 2024 interface. Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence. - Carl Sagan

I used ChasePlane on P3D for years, and while I respect your point, I honestly don’t miss it. In MSFS I don’t even need an interface to set up custom flight-deck and cabin views. Everything can be assigned with Ctrl + [number] to save and [number] to recall, much like in X-Plane. ChasePlane certainly offered additional features, but for my needs this covers almost everything I expect from a simulator’s camera system. The only thing I really miss is a proper fly-by view, and that alone might eventually push me to pick up CP again.
