I can barely wait for 2026

What I'd like from 2026:

- Core Game; Further essential bug fixes and continued tweaks to optimisation are still required in SU5, whilst SU4 is in my eyes "v1.0" the continued progress of the core product has only just begun so a general move forward with regards to features, a better UI, quality of life improvements etc all that general stuff you expect from a constantly evolving title.

Individual features like Live Weather still need vast improvement in many areas (thunderstorm cells, different cloud types, better transitions, fix the bugs etc). Career Mode seems to be getting there but apparently it's still riddled with annoying issues so they need ironing out, I'm yet to fully dive in myself though so I may attempt that soon just to see where it's at.

- Regressions; What I don't want to see in 2026 is a traditional Asobo regression tactic, lest we forget SU5 & 7 from 2020. They still haunt that Sim to this day with bugs introduced and never fixed, so I can only hope that Asobo/MS have actually learnt how to move forward two steps without the need to regularly go backwards two steps at the same time. They can start by fixing up the LOD system once and for all as it's still "a mess" (words from a modder).

- Content; There's no particular aircraft I'm in need of, so with that regard anything that comes along that's decent and that may intrigue me is a good thing. I'm not one for airports so they are again just nice little extras, world updates are of course always welcome especially with regards to increased DEM (ground) resolution to really make the landscape sharp & crisp.

- Content Part Deux; However on that topic I'd like 2026 to be the year MS/Asobo and even Modders push forward with the "Digital Twin", which is in my eyes supposed to be more than just a Flight Simulator. Whatever form that comes in, be it improvements & additional features to Walkaround Mode, ability to use water/land based craft just we do with aircraft, improvements to land based physics as well that sorta thing. The whole "Digital Twin" is currently just a nice thing to look at whilst flying, it's time to actually utilise it some more.

- Overall; I'm looking forward to progress and looking forward to many more hours in what has finally become a very decent simulator. With the way MSFS2024 is shaping up alongside my favourite racing Sims I can see 2026 might be pretty special 🙂

  • BlueBird Simulations' Boeing 757 should be nice too.

  • Gosh I hope we get the majestic q400. At this point I’m wondering if it’s even coming. Their forum is dead and they are not responding to messages.

  • My highlight next year will be PMDG's 747s. Especially the classics.

I am under the impression that they are working on it. Might not be here for 2026. My absolute favorite plane of all time. So many memories flying PDX-SEA and back.

I would love to see a really detailed version of LMML Malta airport and the entire islands of Malta and Gozo. Will any developer accept the challenge?

There's only one essential thing I'd like to see in 2026 for MSFS:-

Asobo spending the 6 minutes I'd guess it would take, to fix the fact that the key shortcuts for their (excellent) headset simulation mode haven't worked since SU1.

I mean the shortcuts are there in the key assignment database, the coding of the mode is there, it sounds great, but to use it we currectly have to break immersion by coming out of the sim session, through 2 stages of menu, turn it on, then back out to the sim.

Someone managed to assign the variables for the headlset mode, onto a button in Parallel 42's Flow - and he said in the comments that it took him 2 minutes to do.

Despite all this, I've honestly lost any hope that Asobo will ever fix the key shortcuts for this feature.
