Aerosoft CRJ Uncommanded Engine Shutdowns

Featured Replies

Any ideas on why I would be getting uncommanded engine shutdowns on the CRJ (Latest Aerosoft version, on MS2024).   Just got back to this after a long hiatus, first few flight went fine but ever since, one or the other or both engines die on me.  Typically all is well for the taxi-out but once I'm off the ground, the fun starts.   I haven't made any control changes and have checked to make sure no existing bindings are the culprit.

Any ideas are appreciated.

I had some uncommanded engine shutdowns in the PMDG 737 as well. Probably a rogue axis of key binding.

I would bet 100% that it's a key bind thing.  Review everything.  I've logged dozens of flights in the  24 CRJ and not had this happen even once.

5800X3D, 4090FE, 64GB DDR4 3600C16, Gigabyte X570S MB, EVO 970 M.2's, Alienware 3821DW  and 2  22" monitors, Corsair RM1000x PSU,  360MM MSI MEG, MFG Crosswind, T16000M Stick, Boeing TCA Yoke/Throttle, Skalarki MCDU and FCU, Logitech Radio Panel/Switch Panel, Spad.Next

Meanwhile (since release of SU4) there are many reports in forums with sudden engine shutdowns. Many reports on reddit for example.

I see reports from vanilla C152 to the PMDG 737, happens in any aircraft.

I think this is a bug introduced with SU4 (deactivating engine damage in the options helps), but this is obviously so random, that no one sees a pattern so far 😄

The pattern I’ve seen is somebody has a bind assignment they didn’t realize and the problem goes away when they fix it.

A wrong bind does not lead to the "engine malfunction" message of MSFS2024 with SU4 what we see since the release of SU4 for the first time.

I fly with exactly the same setup since years and i had already 2 engine "fail" stutdowns with different aircraft of this style after SU4. Not a single one in the 20 years before. And on reddit you will find more of these without a good explanation.

post a link.  I don't recall hearing much chatter about this.  The fact is, this is reported very infrequently.  Perhaps most of us fly with engine damage turned off in the sim since we are mostly using payware that simulate that on their own.  I don't know

Just some random picks...yes its infrequently. and it happened to me 2 times in the last weeks for the first time since im flying FS9...

I find it quite strange.

Interesting.  Reddit but still interesting 😇

I have this with the beta, I can't use the crj the throttles are moving all over. I was hoping it is something to do with the beta.

Any help would be great.

I tried to make the most of it after I lost one engine 5 min after takeoff.   Instead of just shutting down the sim, I turned back to KCLT.   I was halfway there and the 2nd engine died.   I was able to restart it a couple of times, both times it failed again after a few seconds.   Tried to glide back to KCLT, wasn't going to make it.   Found a straight stretch of highway a bit off my nose, was going to replicate that Southern DC-9 mishap from back in the 70's.   While trying to align with the road at 500', airspeed at 130 and dropping, I stalled and went in.    RIP 11bee.

Yeah, that's what I figured.   I found a few keyboard binds that I deleted.   No change.  The weird part is that I had 4-5 initial flights with no issues at all.

as real as it gets, as Microsoft used to say.

shutting down of wrong engine:

Captain Hunt and First Officer McClelland, both seriously injured in the crash, were dismissed following the criticisms of their actions in the Air Accidents Investigation Branch report.[27] Hunt suffered injuries to his spine and legs in the crash. In April 1991, he told a BBC documentary, "We were the easy option – the cheap option if you wish. We made a mistake – we both made mistakes – but the question we would like answered is why we made those mistakes."
