March 8Mar 8 According to online research the McDonnel Douglas MD-11F can carry over 900,000 standard plastic kitchen spatulas in its cargo hold, (limited by weight and not volume) given a relatively light fuel load such as on a short-haul flight from Phoenix AZ KPHX to Vancouver CA CYVR. To validate the findings we loaded up before dawn, got the flight plan entered into the MCDU and fired her up. Of course by the time we got all that done and received clearance to taxi to the active, the sun was already peeking over the horizon but it was still a nice morning for getting up into the sky. Always amazing how fast the sun rises and sets in the desert! Farewell for now, Phoenix, I will miss your tasty Taquerias, tan women and long straight roads... Speaking of which, by the time we reached cruising altitude I couldn't remember a thing she'd said... The weather turned typical Pacific Northwest by the time we reached Oregon... And before you know it, we were descending down into the land of the Great White North In a happy coincidence, Canada turned out to be exactly where we were hoping it was. I will say that FSHUD did a decent job of guiding our approach to Final: For as big a country as Canada is, you'd think they could squeeze in some more space between the parking ya know? With the big girl unloaded, there's still plenty of time to get some Poutain for lunch, or is that more of a Quebec thing?? Edited March 8Mar 8 by Stoopy "That's what" - She
March 8Mar 8 Nice! Great to see my hometown, Vancouver, featured. By the way, poutine is more a Quebec thing--although you can find it in Vancouver. It's just not as good as what you can find in Montreal or Quebec City. I suggest wandering into downtown Vancouver for a JapaDog, going to Granville Island for some candied salmon and a Lee's donut, or going anywhere in Chinatown or Richmond for authentic Chinese food. 😀 Joel Murray @ CYVR (actually, somewhere about halfway between CYNJ and CZBB)

March 10Mar 10 Great FS24 photo's [sic], thank you for sharing! One might reasonably wonder, however, why on earth nearly a million plastic spatulas were suddenly needed anywhere in Canada? What on earth is going on up there that led to such a shortage--or sudden need?

Funny thing, we were asking ourselves the very same question on the way up there, and come to find out (this is VERY exciting news) they're part of the massive inventory purchased for the Grand Opening of B.C.'s latest culinary supply store opening up THIS COMING WEEKEND!! 😄 "That's what" - She
