March 9Mar 9 I wonder if any F-14s will be made airworthy for the airshow circuits now? I believe one of the key factors for the aircraft not being allowed to enter civilian hands was the risk of spare parts making their way over to Iran.

Sadly, the US scrapped all their tomcats. there are a few Gate Guards and museum pieces, but none have been stored/preserved with any consideration for future restoration to flyable status. IMHO, Senator McCain had a lot to do with that. And I believe he had some sort of personal vendetta against the airframe or the people who flew it. the whole “spare parts for Iran” thing just doesn’t make sense. For what other airframe have we taken such drastic measures…? Edited March 9Mar 9 by UrgentSiesta
