is it true that people see code when on DMT
Yes, it is true that many people report seeing "code," geometric symbols, or data-like streams when under the influence of N,N-Dimethyltryptamine (DMT), particularly in high-dose "breakthrough" experiences or when using specific visual aids

While DMT experiences are highly subjective, a significant number of reports include visions of rapidly shifting, alien, or technological writing, often described as the "source code" of reality or the matrix.

Here is a breakdown of this phenomenon based on user reports and recent studies:

1. The "Code of Reality" Protocol
Recent studies and surveys have identified a recurring phenomenon where individuals, under the influence of DMT, perceive "coherent geometric structures and symbols resembling 'code'".

  • The Laser Experiment: A specific, albeit non-conventional, study protocol involves viewing a 650 nm red laser diffraction pattern, which many participants report turns into structured, golden, or alien-like writing or symbols.
  • Consistency: A high percentage of participants in these informal, subjective studies report seeing the same type of symbols, which some describe as alien writing or a "matrix".

2. Nature of the "Code"
Users who experience this often describe it in specific ways:
  • Alien/Complex Glyphs: The "code" is frequently described as not being in any known human language, but rather as complex symbols, glyphs, or "weird signs".
  • The "Matrix" Effect: Many report a feeling of seeing through the "simulated" nature of reality, as if seeing the underlying programming of the universe.
  • Movement: The code is rarely static. Users describe it as hyper-dimensional, moving too fast to reproduce, or constantly self-transforming.

3. Scientific and Psychological Perspective
While these experiences are profound for the individuals, they are not necessarily evidence of an actual, objective computer simulation.
  • Neuroscience Explanation: DMT is a powerful serotonin receptor agonist that creates intense visual hallucination by disrupting normal sensory processing, leading the brain to generate complex, orderly patterns (fractals and geometry).
  • Visualizing "Priors": Some researchers suggest that these patterns are the brain's "inner workings" or "prior beliefs" about reality becoming visible to the user, rather than the true external structure of the universe.
  • "Machine Elves": Historically, Terence McKenna described these experiences as "self-transforming machine elves" that communicate through complex visual language.

In summary: It is a well-documented phenomenon that DMT users report seeing "code," but it is widely considered a subjective hallucination driven by intense neurochemical changes rather than a literally revealed, objective computer code of the universe.

when on DMT

Let us know if you ever try it.

A search for DMT on YouTube will yield more than you'll ever want to watch.

The most interesting thing about DMT is that there is speculation that the brain produces it during near death experiences.

Hmm.... given it impacts serotonin, that might or might not be a good idea for me,  an OCD sufferer.

They are researching psilocybin that seems to be showing promise. 🍄

There is a not-too-well-known horror/thriller movie involving DMT called "The Banshee Chapter", produced in 2013.  There are some other mysterious things folded into the plot such as Numbers Stations, aliens, and secret bases.

It's one of my top ten favorite movies, actually.

It’s funny how over the years your mind can play tricks on you.  For some reason, I remember that scene as Ralphie saying “It’s a G** D*** commercial!”

There was no foul language in that movie.  Even the cursing uttered by Ralphie's dad was nothing more than gibberish.  The closest was when Ralphie said "Oh, fudge", then the narrator (adult Ralphie) says it was the "f, dash, dash, dash word".
