March 22Mar 22 Love all the included liveries-especially the KLM Retro, DHL Express, Kenya Airways, Friendship, Wave which kinda of looks like Ansett "delta" era to me and Livery 03. March 22Mar 22 I used to fly to Belfast fairly regularly on Jersey European's F27 a few years back. It would be nice to see that livery or the later british European livery that replaced it. March 22Mar 22 It's worth the low price as a bit of fun but it's one for the Hangar. In the 1970s, I flew jump seat on Air Anglia Fokker F27s, though this flight deck seemed more rudimentary than I remember. What I do recall vividly is climbing steeply to FL230 above the weather, fully loaded, departing Paris Orly — and this aircraft handled it effortlessly. On the downside, the onboard sounds are inaccurate and resemble ocean waves rather than the characteristic drone of two Rolls-Royce Dart engines. Edited March 22Mar 22 by nippa

It’s interesting in that, to achieve cruising altitude, it suggests climbing to your desired level +200ft and then dropping down into cruise—sometimes referred to as “getting on the step.” In over 40 years in air traffic control, I’ve never seen an Fokker F27 perform this manoeuvre—only one cargo pilot flying a Viscount out of Dublin ever requested permission to do so.

I still cringe when at 18-19 years of age as a navy rating, we toured Japan in 1968 with our SEATO Frigate and on shore leave used such terms as Ngasaki Bomb and Horishima bomb when describing those cities still recovering, as a sort of in house joke because we spoke no Japanese . I now feel an enormous amount of guilt at my juvenile stupidity and lack of sensitivity . No politics, please. Many of us find this offensive. Edited March 22Mar 22 by UrgentSiesta

I was sat on the front row next to the media seats from where people were live streaming. I’m not sure if they were the official live stream, but if you watch it the guy says the RR darts were “efficient and quiet “ At which point, having flown RR powered HS748 for 1500 hours, I let out an involuntary snort. So if you hear a strange noise on the livestream..that’s me ! Coming to think of it, yes, I did detect such a strange noise, somewhere from the livestream audience…🙂… Anyway, jon, those RR Dart sounds, I love to hear…a smooth purr to some of us sim enthusiasts, while actually an aggressive (and high-pitched) roar, as you’ve hinted…🙂…I’ll be surely mindful of pets and plants nearby… Cheers…!

Some of us here are diehard fans of antique airplanes…🙂…A member here just posted about 727… How will we simmers fully appreciate the 737 Max cockpit, if we didn’t ever see the one in a 727…from where it all started…? Recently, I visited a RW (UAL) 727-100 and took a couple of photos of its flight deck, in the local Science Museum. Talk about antique…🙂…but fascinating nonetheless…to see how far we have progressed…

Way back in the days when I was a young Swabbie in the USN, the A-6 Intruder Bombardier/Navigators used to train on Gulfstream I turboprops. You could hear them clear across the (large) airfield. And as I recall, the twin turbojet A-6’s were far less noisy from everywhere but the rear, and at power 😂
