My version of a well rounded aircraft collection

Featured Replies

I'm wondering what criteria others would use if they were to create their own "well-rounded" line-up of MSFS aircraft add-ons. Having learned my lesson from buying a LOT of add-ons from other flight simulators I'd buy only payware non-military aircraft for MSFS that I will actually use.

1. Just Flight P-28 - old single prop
2. Flysimware C414 - old twin prop

3. Black Square TBM 850 - newer single prop analog cockpit
4. FSReborn FSR500 - newer single prop glass cockpit

5. Black Square Duke - twin prop piston
6. Black Square Turbine Duke - twin prop turbine

7. Just Flight F27 - analog cockpit airliner
8. PMDG 800 - glass cockpit airliner

9. Xtreme Prototypes Learjet - analog cockpit business jet
10. FlightFX Citation X - glass cockpit business jet

11. Parallel 42 Freedom Fox - bush plane
12. Ant's Drifter - ultra light plane

EDIT: For light business jets: FlightFX Honda Jet or Cockspur Phenom 100.

Correct typo and addition

Hardware: i7-8700k, GTX 1070-ti, 32GB ram, NVMe/SSD drives with lots of free space.
Software: latest Windows 10 Pro, P3Dv4.5+, FSX Steam, and lots of addons (100+ mostly Orbx stuff).

Not a bad list... I would substitute the BKSQ Baron for the Duke.. 😉

And add another category of Floatplanes.. BKSQ Caravan Amphib.

Makes sense. Also, I'm all for adding a floatplanes category since that expands the list to 14 instead of unlucky 13. Call me superstitious. Lol.

Maybe I should add a tail dragger category: Van's RV14/14A (which include a trike variant).

I have an extremely well-rounded collection of aircraft. So well rounded it's positively obese. Couple of hundred at least, maybe even over three hundred. Pretty much anything I like to look of, and I can get away with this because I don't bother to learn how to fly any of them 'properly'.

I'm way more of an aircraft nut than any kind of sim pilot. Everything from Cessna to StarTrek. For instance, last few days I've grabbed the TriStar, Bulldog Autogyro, English Electric Wren and B200 Kingair. And enjoyed them all.

Ryzen 9 7900X, Corsair H150 AIO cooler, 64 Gb DDR5, Asus X670E Hero m/b, 3090ti, 13Tb NVMe, 8Tb SSD, 16Tb HD, 55" Philips 4k HDR monitor, EVGA 1600w ps, all in Corsair 7000D airflow case. Sims in use - 2020, 2024, XP-12 and -11, FSX/SE, P3Dv4.5 and v5.4. DCS and AFS2 installed but rarely used

mmmm.....

Comanche 250

Cessna 414 / Baron 58 (tie)

Caravan 206

Citation 750

727-200

Md88

Rj85

A300-600

737-800

A320

A350

Helicopter should be added somewhere.

I don't know how do you manage with just a few planes. For GA this is what I thought I had:

  • Carenado Cessna 182 RG (a slow, high-wing piston plane)
  • Carenado Mooney (a faster one for a quick flight)
  • JF Piper Turbo Arrow (a fast and detailed one, since I didn't want to pay for the Comanche, and that I no longer use).
  • A2A Comanche (in the end, I couldn't resist)
  • SWS PC-12 (something bigger and faster than the typical piston single)
  • iniBuilds P-40 (a warbird, since I missed the A2A one)

But I checked my inventory (I have an Excel with all my FS-related software purchases since I started simming), and I see I have around 27 aircraft. 3 of them are GA/warbirds I didn't count above. From the 18 remaining ones, there are several airliners I didn't remember I had. And I'm not yet counting freeware! I'm sure I qualify as a drunken sailor (as the late NickN said).

This is no contest. Honda Jet wins in every way!

Since I've been simming since Flight Unlimited, my list will probably include all aircraft in all 3 version of FU. 😀

good line up!

I’d replace the JF Piper with the A2A.
Ditto for the Chancellor.

I prefer the BAe 146 vs the Fokker.

I’d go for an Airbus for modern airliner. Nothing against PMDG or Boeing, it’s just that Airbus is the far extreme to the 146 🤙

I’ve just been getting started with the FSW LearJet 2.0. Tremendously satisfying so far.

Until the arrival of the FSR Phenom, or possibly the Asobo Praetor, the Longitude is all I need ( for almost everything, tbh!)

I’m going to add in both the SWS Kodiak 2.0 and Black Square Caravan for glass or steam “heavy” bush planes 😁👍

and finally, the Taogs Hangar H500C/OH-6.

oh, and “just one more”: the Just Flight Hawk. I only fly it as an unarmed primary jet trainer.

Primarily steam gauge, but still has a G3X for nav. Flight model is much improved in the new v2, as well.
when it’s on sale (like right now) it’s just a sublime experience! 😎
