However, only the conifers were benefiting from this transparency, other tree types were still 100% opaque, leading to sometimes unpleasant results, depending on the quality of the orthos.... EDIT: actually some other types as well, but not as much as the conifers... I just checked some older screenshots. There were also some special sceneries from FranceVFR that brought high-resolution tree textures.... beautiful if you are in the covered area, but not really matching the textures of anywhere else... May 24May 24 Moderator I took a short flight yesterday from Liverpool down to Bristol in the Carenado PC12 at 4,000ft. Nothing jumped out at me as being false. The many areas containing trees looked entirely natural. What a pleasant change and for so little outlay.Next target are the false waves around coastlines. After that maybe the ASCA clouds need looking at as the absence of anything threatening when cumulonimbus is present is disappointing. Ray (Cheshire, England). May 24May 24 There is a way to turn the coastline waves off if that helps you. I’ve done it myself, but can’t remember the exact steps. You can find out how on the orbx forum. I believe you have to manually turn them off every time you install a new orbx product or verify files in the orbx app. There are also replacement coastline wave textures out there that look way better than default, but I still prefer to just have them off completely. [1]Navigate to your P3D installation directory and open the Resources folder.Open Triton.config using a text editor like Notepad. You can adjust values for wave cresting, splashing, and overall wave scale.Note: Adjust these settings cautiously, as pushing values too high can cause severe drops in FPS. Always create a backup of the original configuration file before making any edits Ray (Cheshire, England). May 24May 24 Maybe we are discussing two different things. I was referring to disabling the 2D coastline wave textures that I believe are originally from FSX and don’t look good at all in my opinion. Orman

Cannot really blame consumer level users though, LM never did make it easy to understand.Even the Prepar3D.cfg is not well documented, the platform is basically LM's product they build and configure for their direct customers (who spend $$$ in the multi millions), leaving everyone else pretty much on their own.Cheers Ryzen 5800X clocked to 4.7 Ghz (SMT off), 32 GB ram, Samsung 1 x 1 TB NVMe 970, 2 x 1 TB SSD 850 Pro raided, Asus Tuf 3080Ti P3D 4.5.14, Orbx Global, Vector and more, lotsa planes too. I was referring to disabling the 2D coastline wave textures that I believe are originally from FSX and don’t look good at all in my opinion.I'm pretty sure if you're running v5+those shoreline waves are disabled/removed as a default.I still run shoreline waves though, but I use the "Global_Orbx_Wave_Effects" package rather than the default FSX style.Global_Orbx_Wave_Effects is a freeware package from Orbx originally designed for P3D v4, the package still does function on P3D 5+, however the changes to effects structures (in particular to transparency) means a person must manually edit the effects files on a trial and error basis to cater for the transparency shift, (because LM didn't document a "How To" make suitable compatibility changes that I'm aware of).Anyway, they do look pretty fine as shown in the vid below. There are also a few other shoreline wave packages created by other devs as well but the Orbx crew's package is the nicest overall.
