Boeings Galore - The LevelUP project

Featured Replies

Yea. I just did some hand flown comparison circuits between the LU and PMDG NGXu in P3DV5.4. Trying to pitch the Level Up to maintain an altitude is a lesson in frustration. It's like a constant see saw. Not near as bad in the NGXu or Zipo.

Credit where credits due, the PMDG in P3DV5 is the most stable.

If we are going to have every variant of the airbuses in each sim, why not the boeings?

    level up makes great stuff

On the other hand, I have no trouble hand flying the NGs at all. They in fact hand fly so well that I find myself flying departures until FL100 or so using nothing but the elevator trim. (T.16000M)

I perform all my loading operations by entering the payload mass on the tablet. This at least ensures a center of gravity that is within limits.

That's interesting because I had an exchange with Jochen, the guy who helped improving the FM. And after reinstalling the aircraft it looks liek I may have had an older version (still don't know why that happened). After a new installation, the flight behaviour and trim during approach were really comparable to the ZIBO and not near as bad as I stated before (my bad)

OK, maybe that's the difference. The NGXu loads through the FMC and automatically distributes the CG. I'll take another look.

Yeah, try perhaps also to use the maintenance toolkit to be sure it is updated. Jochen suggested me to download it again and use that tool.

I am really having big issues handflying this plane. I installed the last update but something is wrong with the trim. During take offs, I have to pull the yoke fully back at Vr to get it in the air and pull like crazy. It is extremely nose-heavy. That can be solved by triming it up more than according to what the CG says.

But then during approaches, as soon as I disconnect the autopilot, it doesn’t seem to be trimed correctly. And triming it up or down by only one notch makes it react very nervously, so that a balanced approach is extremely challenging and feels unnatural.

I don’t have that at all with the ZIBO.

I haven’t flown the update yet but back awhile ago I couldn’t get it to stabilize in level flight via trim. But I didn’t have any issues with takeoff or landing.

As with others, no issue with Zibo or PMDG (but the PMDG doesn’t handle as well as it’s XP counterparts).

I just hand flew the LU NG-900, this time taking greater care to the loading distribution. Makes a big difference in pitch stability. I mean who would have thunk it, right?🫢

So no shortage of the Boeings - so thanks to the Default Laminar 800 #1, then the Zibo 800 #2, then the level up 600, 700, 800 and 900, thats #3.#4.#5.#6, plus the FJS 737-200 thats #7. Which one and when is the what therefore - just cannot make up my mind some days, 7 different versions of the 737 - who'd thought!

There are -100 to -900 then Max7 to 10, that's already 13 different big variants IRL, then there are different engine rating, ADV, IGW, BBJ,PIP, SFP, C,BCF, BDSF.... so no, we don't have enough 737s in sim yet

Yeah I think the previous versions were quite famous for having an oversensitive trim…

And don’t forget Airfoillabs making the Max (not out yet)

For me it’s almost always the BBJ1 (-700). That way I can fly anywhere I want whenever I want. It’s great being RICH!!!😂

Well never flown a 737 so I guess the question is now WHICH is the most authentic Boeing 737 in XP12 - A Level UP Beast or the Zibo or the FJS 200. Then again absolutely nothing wrong with the Laminar Defaul B737-800 either so over to you guys what do you reckon?

LevelUp = Zibo, because both use the exact same plugin.

LU bias for me though. Looks just right, sounds just right, handles just right. Zibo is a bit behind in the visual and sound department.

I believe there is a first officer plug in for the Zipo. Not sure about LU. Any one use her? Always appreciated the FS2 Crew in P3D days. Not crazy about having a cartoonish avatar sitting next to me. To me that’s more immersion busting than an empty seat. Nice to have my voice commands reacted to though.
