Scenery Preview - Santa Ynez, California (KIZA)

Featured Replies

Starting some work on this while waiting for more sources needed to finish the air museum in the KPRB scenery.

Santa Ynez is the airport serving the wine country of the Santa Barbara area, ranking among the favorites of many GA pilots in southern California. Have had to take a few liberties due to some difficult terrain, but it's turning out OK.

Good stuff. Love flying in wine country. If you ever find time in the future please have a look at Santa Maria SMX. Low and slow in this area with your great airports.

I was considering taking on KSMX but I heard a payware developer is already going to work on it, so it's off my list now.

Sorry to hear KSMX if off your list. Any idea who is going to work on it?

Sorry I cannot say. Hopefully more will be announced in coming months

Nice, a payware KSMX. I am really interested to know who that developer is! 😁 In any case, your Paso Robles, the San Luis Obispo payware, the unannounced KSMX and the free L52 from vbazillio. The region will be a VFR heaven especially with Say Intentions.

6.30 for 100LL! Yikes!

Haha, they are selling a lot of wine out there I guess. You got me curious and I looked it up, one estimate is that 12% of households in Santa Barbara County make $250K and up.

I have a secret mini project in the area I nearly finished in one go today...so there will be even more destinations!

I swear you're Vbazillio's Northern California alter ego. Hehehe.... Got get back out to Cali and tour both of your airports.

Aww thanks, appreciate the sentiment. Vincent's airports are much more detailed and immersive than mine though. I am just trying to get the ones that haven't been done out there well enough to represent.

By general acclaim, the far West Coast of California has the best weather in America. It's the winds blowing off the oceans as the planet spins that causes this.

Northern California: San Francisco monthly highs are from 46 to 72 F (8 to 22 C). Very mild but will get too cold some days.

Southern California: San Diego monthly highs are from 67 to 78 (18 to 25 C). Very mild but will get too hot on some days.

Central California: Santa Barbara is located almost exactly in between those two cities, 50 to 65 F moanthly highs (10 to 18 C). It almost never gets too hot or cold. KSBA Santa Barbara, Orbx.

5800X3D, RTX4070, 600 Watt, one or two 1440p 32" screens, 64 GB RAM, 4 TB  PCle 3 NVMe, Warthog throttle, VKB NXT EVO stick, Honeycomb Alpha yoke, CH quad, 3 Logitech panels, 2 StreamDecks, Desktop Aviator Trim Panel. Crystal Light VR.
