Have you set Steam to load when your computer boots up?

My computer: ABS Gladiator Gaming PC featuring an Intel 10700F CPU, EVGA CLC-240 AIO cooler (dead fans replaced with Noctua fans), Asus Tuf Gaming B460M Plus motherboard, 16GB DDR4-3000 RAM, 1 TB NVMe SSD, EVGA RTX3070 FTW3 video card, dead EVGA 750 watt power supply replaced with Antec 900 watt PSU.

No, Steam only starts when I click the MSFS 24' icon on desktop

Your desktop shortcut is pointing to Steams UID. Have a look at your desktop properties. If you create a new desktop shortcut and point it to your FlightSimulator.exe from your local drive, you wont see Steam pop up.

No. No, Mav, this is not a good idea.

Sorry Goose, but it's time to buzz the tower!

I'm not sure, but I think in those few times that you plan to buy from the marketplace, then you want Steam to pop up when you start msfs2024, or it won't let you do a purchase. But most of the time you don't need Steam to pop up when booting.

I can create a new desktop shortcut, how to point it to my FlightSimulator.exe from my local drive ?

Depends on your system and how you have created MSFS2024 on which hard drive etc but, just modify this path as needed and past it into the shortcut location window as your starting target. I'm not sure about the quote marks. They may self-generated, or maybe not?

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\MSFS2024\FlightSimulator2024.exe"

Cheers

Nah, there is no need for Steam to be running. If you make a market place purchase then when it comes time for payment the appropriate Steam window is called and then your purchasing in Steam. 👍

Tried it, modified it as needed, Steam overlay still starts first no matter what I try, mine is ...D:\Steam\steamapps\common\Limitless\FlightSimulator2024.exe

How to stop steam app when starting a steam game on desktop pc?

Bypass the Steam protocol entirely

If a game does not require Steam's built-in digital rights management (DRM), you can run it without launching the Steam application at all. [1, 2]

  1. Right-click your game inside the Steam Library.

  2. Go to Manage > Browse local files.

  3. Locate the primary game application file (the .exe file).

  4. Right-click that .exe file, select Show more options (on Windows 11), and choose Create shortcut.

  5. Drag that new shortcut to your desktop and delete the old Steam-generated shortcut.

This did work, no Steam when I click icon to start FS24', however it takes a super long time to load, then a box saying session ended wrong Continue in Normal Mode, or Safe Mode, I'll go back to the Steam way, at least FS24' loads a lot faster.
