FSReborn Phenom 300e updates

Featured Replies

I don't really see flight model updates as a bad sign by themselves. For me it is more about whether the developer keeps listening and whether the aircraft moves in a sensible direction after release. A business jet with a realistic and a slightly more forgiving option also doesn't sound unreasonable, as long as it is clear which one you are flying.

Since this is a marketplace plane, the updates are automatic. Microsoft/Asobo list the marketplace updates every week in their marketplace newsletter, or you can join the FSReborn Discord or keep an e

It's so flawless it makes no sense whatsoever to download anything unless you have a truly archaic internet connection.

Don't get me wrong updates are always welcome. There will be bugs, but I find it curious to see these patches when you have supposedly professional testers who have been giving you feedback foe, I imagine quite some time now. I don't even consider playing on Easy mode; I like a challenging simulation.

And again - you wouldn't if you took the time to read the underlying discussions and to understand what was and was not changed. The testers (and they have several RW Phenom pilots testing) and the developer stand by the original model.

Some users find the RW model too difficult, so they made the decision to offer their customers the choice of a less-real, but easier model. Nothing "curious" about it, and certainly not any kind of failure on the part of the RW testers helping out as you seem determined to imply.

"supposedly professional"? C'mon.

Companies like Carenado never had a good update structure / process IMO.

That problem goes away with the MP so I'm expecting MP sellers to get onboard with MP pushed updates (fingers crossed). 🤗

Which is shared with 15-20 other devices in one's household and a guarantee that of 1Gbps (read the fine print) means can vary from 400Mbps to 900Mbps) thru-out the day (shared with your local neighborhood and assuming you don't have other devices using it) ... and then you are also reliant on the server streaming the data which may or may not be having a good day. So Steaming makes NO SENSE especially since updates are far and few between.

Nonsense. I've been streaming everything from day 1 and never had any quality or performance issues. My broadband is average fare for the UK. Why would I take your advice and fill a 1TB drive for absolutely no benefit? Your assessment and 'numbers' are just theory, not lodged in real experience. There are users here who report that they have 50Mb internet connections, and do just fine with it. Do you actually have issues when streaming 2024 content, or is this all just based on theories of broadband load divisibility in the home, constraining MSFS2024?

I have to say I have downloaded content and found it no faster or better than when I was streaming it. I just leave everything streamed now and am quite happy with the performance of MSFS. Maybe it could theoretically be better to download but from my experience it is not with the effort. I think all our setups and expectations and perceptions are different though.

Indeed. Of course modern local storage is way faster than even top tier broadband, but for this application it doesn't matter. It just doesn't take that much bandwidth to load a plane. And with a newer aircraft like the Phenom that is seeing regular updates, it's one less thing I have to manage.

So... No downside + tangible upside = easy choice. And I say this as someone who's not been a big fan of the Marketplace.

My advice? Don't take anyone else's word for it, try it yourself.

If you have plenty of free space on your computer, it’s silly not to use it after all, streaming constantly writes to your computer and shortens the lifespan of your storage SSD devices, and anyone who’s been using MFS since the beginning knows that Azure servers have caused occasional problems on more than one occasion.

I have cheap HDs for North American and European orthos for X-Plane 12, and I wouldn’t trade them for anything in the world.

If you’re retired or are lucky enough to have a lot of free time, I suppose it doesn’t matter. Personally, between work and family, I have very little free time, and few things annoy me more than having some free time on a Sunday morning like today and not being able to play because of software problemas or connection issues.

Another thing that really bothers me about MFS, and its update policy and the Marketplace streaming, which is essentially the same thing, is that it forces you to update both the simulator and the add-ons without being able to roll back those updates if problems arise.

The same applies if you've downloaded your content. Once you've updated you've no way of reverting to an older version.

Exactly my experience too. After the SU that introduced downloading, I excitedly downloaded over 600Gb of content. To find it made no difference whatsoever. I think I had hoped that we'd have access to cfg files, for content we download. I soon found that not to be the case, and that MSFS204 is 'encryption central'. So I deleted it all, got 600Gb back and again, going back to streaming made no difference at all.

Getting back to the Phenom, I did have a chance to fly yesterday and I'm quite happy with the update. As noted by @Funky D the auto acknowledgement of CAS advisories is really appreciated. It was a minor annoyance having to break from my startup flow to acknowledge advisories for events that I know are going to happen. The feature only applies to advisories, as it should, and is quite welcome. What is also welcome is having all switches and knobs behaving as expected now. Again, much appreciated.

As for the flight model change, I'm still flying the Pro model and still enjoying it. Executed a nice landing on my flight from Chicago Midway (KMDW) to Destin Executive (KDTS) and didn't really notice much different. I know some minor tweaks were made and perhaps I'll notice them under different conditions, but... I liked it before, and I still like it. A good, precise well-aligned landing at the proper airspeed will get you rewarded. Deviate and the plane will let you know. I'll let others report on the "easier" flight model as I'm unlikely to use it. And if it sounds like I"m chest-thumping here, that's not my intent. I think any reasonably experienced simmer can learn good landings with the Pro flight model. Check out the Phenom Discord channels as Raul and one or two of those rascally RW Phenom pilots do offer good suggestions.

Lo mismo se aplica si has descargado el contenido. Una vez que hayas actualizado, no hay forma de volver a una versión anterior.

That's why I try to shop outside the Microsoft Store whenever I can.

Internet security is the primary reason to stick to MP. Especially since you don't need to add another potential hacking venue.

Also, I appreciate that MS locksdown my purchases like most devs would.
