  1. Ive had this once, with the LongEZ from Alphasim, the only add on I have. I just killed FSX rebooted and its never happened again. I think it was probably a glitch in the video card, an nVidia 8800 GTS. Try to reboot and see if everything is ok, if not perhaps you have a heat problem on your video card. i.e. the fan not running.
  2. Ladies and Gentlemen,If you want a really fun GA plane to play with, the LongEZ from Alphasim is it. The LongEZ is a Burt Rutan classic homebuilt that flies like a dream, once you learn how to fly it. Can't praise it enough.
  3. If you want a really fast and FUN plane to fly, get the LongEZ from Alphasim. It flies as close to the real numbers as you are likely to get in this simulator. A bit of a learning curve but that is what makes it interesting. A very nice plane, a very unusual plane and just plane fun :-) It is fast, will fly tops about 220 MPH, realistically cruise 140 knots. Its payware but it is well worth the money, it's the only payware I have on FSX at the moment, I don't buy a lot of payware, only really quality work when I do. The only other payware I buy is RealAir and DreamFleet or FSD, thats it.Donald E. Donovan
  4. I too crash if I get within a few miles of Meigs. I tried starting there on the active runway but would crash repeatedly. Set up at Midway and flew over but would crash in midair as soon as I got a visual on it.Any ideas as I would like to fly there again. :-)
  5. Hello Rex,I have used Computer associates EZ AntiVirus for several years, at least five or more and have never had a problem. I never turn it off and it has never caused a problem or slow down in any version of FS either MS or Falcon 4.Donald E. Donovan
  6. Hope someone puts this plane into FSX!!
  7. Ryan I OC my C2D 6700 20%. 3.2Ghz. No extra cooling, and the CPU temp comes from 47C to 52C when I am running FSX with WinVista Ultimate. I also get 20% on my memory and run the 667 cheap memory at 800. My MB is a P5N E SLI
  8. Thanks for the reply Christian. And a SPECIAL Thanks for your work on TileProxy. I only fly VFR, as that is what I fly in real life. So being able to fly the actual area for the flights that I fly for real, is an immeasurable advantage. Not only is it super fun, but very enlightning too. There are areas here that I do not fly over because of heavy traffic, I don't particularly want to bother busy flight controllers and so on and so forth. :-) Hope you get the Bravo Zulu award for this program.
  9. Where are the default latitude and longitude setting located in FSX?I notice when TP starts after starting FSX it lists the default Lat and long. for Friendly Harbor, although I start in Oklahoma City. Tiles come up Ok, but wonder if it would be better if it started using the lat and long for OKC?
  10. Howdy Dave,Yes you can interact with real world weather in FSX. Go to WorldWeather, it will give you a choice of two real world situations. Real World static, that only downloads the weather once or, it will update your weather every 15 minutes. Just click the radio button for the one you want. It works very well at my location, (Oklahoma City). Be aware if the weather at your location is bad with limited visibility, that is what you wil get in the simulator, so you may have to fly ILS. :-)
  11. You have 158.18 driver set, which I suppose the companies shorten the complete7.15.11.5818 to the trncated 158.18.Nvidia lists the 158.22 WHQL as the latest for XP and lists the 158.18 as the latest WHQL set for Vista which is what I have. I used to download every beta that comes down the pike but generally for MSFS in its various forms, I generally find the WHQL as good as any. Unless I get a specific problem i tend any more to just stay with what I find is a good WHQL and quit worrying abut it. I am currently using the 158.18 set which in Vista does as well or better than anything else I have tried. Vista seems to get a bit twitchy with some of the Beta sets.Haveing said all that, there are times when hope suddenly springs eternal and I secretly hope to find the silver lining in the driver clouds :-) Very seldom does it occur though!!!!!!!!!!!!!Edit:OH NO I just went to EVGA page (I have the EVGA 8800GTS), and seen they just recommended 158.43 for there 8800 series, and I have the 8800GTS, I'll just HAVE to try them, drat the luck LOLwb5okj
  12. I have the HP F2304 which is a 23 inch monitor. It has inputs for both digital and analogue and the cables to go with it. It has the input switch on the front right bottom to switch to about any kind of input you might need. I've had this monitor for more than a year and really like it. :-) I've only used it in DVI digital however.wb5okj
  13. Hope to get some suggestions for a problem with an Asus P5n-E SLI motherboard and the onboard Nvidia Network Controller.I have a cable connection through Cox Cable. The problem is if I reboot the computer I cannot get on the internet. The network icon in the tray will say unidentfied network limited connectivity, and I cannot get on the network which is a cable connection through Cox Cable. If I power down the computer completely, cold start, stay down a few minutes then I can usually get back on after three or more shutdowns. Another thing sometimes the Icon will say Network 2 if I mouse over it and I have a good connection. Other times I will mouse over and it will say just Network, and that gives me a good connection. Once I get a good connection it stays good unless I have to power down. When I get unidentified network I get the yellow exclamation point, and again three or more cold boots before i get a good connection.Does anyone else have experience with this problem, I suspect it is a faulty onboard network controller, another reason to not have on board stuff with your motherboard!! BUT there you have it, I wanted this computer :-) What thinks all of You?ThanksDonald E. Donovanwb5okj
  14. The sim itself will do an average FPS for you paste the folowing into the FSX.cfg under TextInfo.2 under TextInfo.3 I changed the arguments to 2.2AverageFrameRate=2,1Hit Shift+Z twice or three times to get the average frames per second, will also display the highest and the lowest frames at the same time.
  15. Great idea!1920x1200 32:FSX benchmark score: 49 (18 31)C2D E6700 stock (2.67Gh)Memory 3582MB 5300 DDR2 667GPU EVGA 8800GTS 387 StockOS Win Vista Ultimate 32 I used the average frame rate counter within the sim iself to get the average FPS.The above benchmark score was with the sim at a resolution of 1920x1200 32,I realized that the benchmark didn't change my resolution in full window so changed it manually. The numbers below are at 1024x768 321024x768 32:FSX Benchmark score: 53 (20 33)
  16. Thanks for the comeback Adrian, and I think that is a very good idea.Removing a pair of the 1GB sticks I mean. Since installing the pair of 2GB sticks I cannot overclock this C2D E6700 more than 10 percent thereby bringing it up to only the level of a E6800. Before the memory upgrade, I could get easily 20% and never go above 50degrees C on the CPU. That would give me a cpu speed of 3.2Gh.Well we all know that the flight sim is only a tweaking machine to get the most out of our machine. :-)We live and learn!!
  17. Thanks Jim for the quck reply. I just bought a new Velocity Micro with Windows Vista Ultimate, then without research or FOREthought put in another 4GB of ram on top of the 2GB in it. Then of course I found out WinVista will never use even 4GB of ram It does do 3.585GB LOL. May in the near future go ahead and go to the 64 bit OS, but I did know the drivers are iffy yet. Have to check my printer and scanner.PS. The Velocity Micro goes well above my wildest dreams with FSX.Thanks again
  18. Will the Duo Core 2 E6700 CPU do 64 bit WinVista, or does one have to get a different CPU altogether, i.e., an Itanium? If his CPU will do it I may go toa 64 bit OS
  19. Thanks for the timely response Janne. Looks like I have wasted my money, the next time I upgrade my processor, I'll probably go to the 64 bit version.
  20. Just bought a new computer with a Intel Duo Core 2 6700 and had 2GB of DDR2 ram in 2 sticks. I installed 4 Gigs more, (2sticks of 2GB each), the bios sees 6144 MB of ram but WinVista only sees 3582 MB of ram. Anyone have an idea of what is wrong?Donald E. Dnovan
  21. Hi Hollister,Could you resend that ini file, the email in my account was old and not updated. I have been away for quite some time, and just now updated my email address, would appreciate it if you could resend to my new addressThankswb5okj
  22. Hello Geofa,I fly the Oklahoma City area, I can bring up this area on the regular Google Earth but it always fails using TileProxy. I'll keep trying but if anyone else has luck flying in Oklahoma perhaps we could get some help?wb5okj
  23. Got TileProxy to work with Virtual Earth, would not download from Google, always failed. Is anyone else able to access Google Earth?wb5okj
  24. Howdy Hollister,Thanks a bunch for the link. I have seen your enthuiastic reports on this program and it has whetted my appetite. I'll see if I can get it working.wb5okj
  25. Wwhere can I download TileProxy 2? I searched the File Library, but only come up with the one original file. Would really like to try TileProxy if it has an uninstall feature. Haven't been able to get the original TileProxy to work on this new Vista machine, on the other hand have only worked sporadically at it.Thankswb5okj
