  1. Worse yet Geof,I have been in e-mail contact with CH for almost a week, without a single answer. I get stuff from them as the following, "where did you buy these pedals"? "When did you buy these pedals"? One time they did say, "we don't support the use of hubs". Product support was nil.The thread above from, (I have to browse back to see who it was), ahhh yes, Capt Richard Dillon, and Gary Dunne, also Jose, (THANKS guys). Stompy too.Everyone had good suggestions, any one of these may have done the trick, but of course the easiset was the CH Control Manager.Of course let me say this in CH's defense. It is probably unimaginable to us the amount of email they get with complaints problems and what not. I am sure it is an impossibility to solve every last problem that comes in. I have used CH controllers for quite some time, and have never had a bit of trouble with them. I don't fault CH this time either, rather it is a WinXP problem, as I have several hardware problems with XP besides the Pro Pedals. I count myself fortunate to not have more problems than this, and I am slowly getting a grip on most of these glitches that I do have. I finally got my E-Dimensional glasses to working well in XP and am now able to use the 42.82 drivers with the Russian 40xx wrapped 30.87 Stero drivers. I could never get this combination working in WinME. In WinMe I was limited to the 30.82 or 30.87 combination of reference and stero drivrs. With the 42.82 now I get really sharp graphics and the text in the ATC window is clear and sharp, readable even in Stero mode. Most of all and the real reason :) I changed to WinXP was to run the Flight1 Meridian without problems and workarounds. XP does so brilliantly!!!...so I had better not gripe too much. It did what I got it for :D
  2. Please allow me to thank everyone for their thoughtful and kind suggestions. The problem was solved by downloading and installing the CH Control Manager ver. 2.I didn't have to map anything , as my FlightSim yoke does everything I presently need, through the regular FS2K2 interface. Just installed the Manager, used it to calibrate the Yoke and the Pedals, and everything works like always.Big relief. :DAgain thanks and Blessing to you and all of yours,
  3. Thanks Stompy,And a big thanks to everyone else that has replied.I am out of PCI slots, used my last slot for another video card to use dual monitors.I'll try the CH Control Panel version 2. I had thought about that but kind of put it off, still thinking abut it. Guess I will try that next. If that doesn't work, I may get a USB2 card, don't know yet what I will unload, maybe my modem. Actually I should probably roll back to WinMe. I've lost too much hardware with XP. Actually my periphals still work, I've just lost about half of their functions. WinXP says my printer won't do duplex printing, when it has been fine under Win98 and Win Me.Oh well, (sigh)Thannks again folks, the forum is great!!
  4. Not to throw cold water, but I wouldn't get my expectations too high.We are lucky that any company woud even try to simulate ATC on a large scale. It calls for some very complex logic and decisions to make. I remember in Pro Pilot, all the griping and belly aching that went on with that early version of ATC. I thought it was geat, and to tell the truth, I have had some real world instructions from controllers that would drive a crazy man sane, or vice versa. :DI guarantee that in the next version one will hear griping about the nitpickinest things. I guess that's what makes it fun.
  5. Howdy Greg,Thanks for the speedy comeback and to all the other people also. Yes I did uncheck the, "Allow the turn off this device", in Power management. (All my Root Hubs did have this checked, I unchecked them all,(two of them),).I've also plugged the pedals into every socket I have. The FlightSim Yoke USB, works flawlessly, but since putting WinXp on this machine, the Pedals just mostly snore away. (Wonder what Pedals dream off. Perfectly centered balls perhaps). :DI may bite the bullet and go back to WinMe. I went to XP to run the Meridian. It does that brilliantly, The Meridian was aggravating under WinMe, however I could run it with workarounds. XP is getting downright maddening. :) but hey, the Meridian works!!!!!!!!!
  6. Has anyone solved the CH Pro Pedals go to sleep every five minutes problem? After using these Pro Pedals for about two years with WinMe, without any problems whatsoever, the pedals suddenly go to sleep after upgrading,(?), from WinMe to WinXP. WinXP may be the worst mistake I have made. lots of problems, my HP Professional printer will not print duplex, (double sided), under WinXP, I finally got my E-Dimensional glasses to work after going through nearly every driver in the net's inventory :)and pulling nearly all my hair out, Scanner will not work ever again :(But worse than all of that my Pro Pedals go to sleep. If I unplug them, then plug them back, they work great for about 5 minutes. So far CH asks questions such as, "where did you buy your Pro Pedals". Not a great deal of help. I know this problem has been posed numerous times on the forum, I did a search of the archives and the only thing I got out of that was ArkLight1s pitiful plea for a FSD Gmax Commander. :D Way to go Arklight :DIf anyone has any suggestions I would be delighted to hear them as all the troubleshooters don't do any good. WinXP says these are OK, working fine, but they will not calibrate. WinXP still insists they are OK. They show up in FS2K2 also and look good, they just don't work without unplugging them and replugging. Thanks for listening,Any Help is appreciated,
  7. Howdy Rob,I'm posting this mainly to get my cookie back after just upgrading to WinXP over the weekend. Have nearly everything back and working but the scanner is broken :( The Cd burner won't work, and the software to burn CDs in WinXP itself has so far made coasters out of the CD. :( (Another frown). Waiting anxiouly for the C172 flight model, as I fly that in real life. Rest assured that because of that gesture, I will definitly buy the Decathlon. Actually I will buy it anyway, but thanks in advance for the grand gesture of the C172 file. Wish you all would make a complete C172 K,M,orP model. :) Of course that is not economically viable and I understand and support that. Thanks again,Donald E. Donovan
  8. FSFliteMax, http://www.fsflightmax.com/ is a payware weather radar, that works with any plane in FS2002. It is like real weather radar, it can only see precipitation, usually in the form of thunderstorms or at least a bit more than light rain. The module will also show real world sectionals, like FlyII does, again the sectionals are bought on line. It does several other intresting things too. Give it a look, it is a good program, if you are not reluctant to part with a few dollars, for an addon. Of course Davids Infometar is a good choice, to do it like most of us GA guys have to. ( I can't afford $15,000 US for these kind of avionics in real life). :D I have to look up the weather from online METARS, and I just decode them myself.
  9. Howdy Greg,I can get the plane to fly on WinMe, its just that it is troublesome. BUT when it is loaded and flying, the troublesome's quickly disintergrate into thin air, (to coin a phrase):)In case you get the plane, and it locks your machine up, I have to do a reinstall of the Meridian and the GNS Trainer, then it will load and fly. I also don't really want to go to WinXP right now, but sooner or later, I guess I will. I was hoping to wait for FS10 and upgrade to a 4 or 5 Ghz machine then. Do I get a new operating system just to fly a single plane? Ahhh, its tempting in this case. Thinking cap is on!!!I love the Commander 115TC , ditto the Cardinal the Archer II, anything by DreamFleet, samey same'o for FSD, FlFliteMax, its wonderful. RealAir's SF Marchetti, fabulous, but if this plane starts working like it should, it WILL be my default. No way will I be asking for my money back. I will workaround the problem, and if version 1.1 will work on my machine it will become the default. :DOf course I don't know how long it will be the default. We are a fickle bunch, are we not?
  10. FS2k will not use the buttons on the yoke or joystick, if you are using the toe brakes with rudder pedals. In fact it will not use the default keyboard key (period"."), either when you have the toe brakes assigned in the rudder pedals. Its an either or kind of thing I'm afraid.Add to edit:The parking brake still functions from the keyboard, (Ctrl+period).
  11. All of the above posts are spot on, unless you are running Win98 or WinMe. I am running WinMe on a 1.4Ghz P4. The framerates are ok, and the plane is veritable artwork in and of itself. I fly it regularly although on my machine it is very troublesome. What I mean is the Meridian and the GNS530 will lock my machine up when it is trying to load. I have done all the workarounds tweaks and various sundry things that have been postulated, and still have no idea what is causing these crashes on my machine. (This is the first time I have ever had trouble with any version of flight sim. The crashes are not consistant. Sometimnes the sim will run fine, other times it locks up while loadeing. If I get it loaded everything is fine. Beautiful plane easy to fly. Realistic and a pleasure. When it won't load the only thing that I have found that is at least mostly reliable is to uninstall and then reinstall the Meridian. Sometimes I can just reinstall over the existing flies and it will work, sometimes I must do a complete uninstall, (of the Meridian and the GNS500 Trainer, not the entire FS2k2).Flight1 is working now on a version 1.1 of the Meridian and I am waiting impatiently with bated breath, if this thing works like it should,it will become my default plane and my, (so far), all time favorite. :) Some have not had any problems, I think that most of the problems have been with WinMe or 98, not sure though.
  12. Fortunately I wasn't born at either of those times. It was 1615 hours with Scorpio rising. :-lol
  13. Gosh Elrond,Thats my birthday! And,(GULP), I'll be 66. OH NO!!!!
  14. Better figure on a GFFX or a Raedeon 9700. Remember ACF is going to require DX9. I would assume to get the most, a DX9 video card will be a must. :)
  15. Thanks Al,I'm really not into airliners, but I will fly a prop job a bit. A very nice job, it really SHINES when viewed in 3D sterographics with the E-Dimemsional glasses. The virtual cockpit in stero is very nice. Will be watching for the updated cockpit in March as per your posting on your website.
  16. I have all of those planes, and they all are worthy.I suggest getting the SF.260, it is unique among the FS2002 addons in that it simulates real spins, and or real slips. This is the only plane at the present that I know of that will do this. Using this plane one can do real simulated areobatics, and one can slip if need be during a landing. The plane is suited also for touring, I don't know about around the world with it, without modifications, ( I don't recall the amount of fuel it holds off hand).A hearty thumbs up for this payware plane from me. The authors of this plane give excellent support if needed. So far I haven't needed any support, but it is nice to know it is there if need be. :)
  17. Howdy Vulcan,As a general aviation pilot, the way I do it is to get the METARS for several places enroute, or close to the route I plan to fly, then incorporate that data into my flight plan. I always figure that this is just a general guess-ti-mate, and the flight plan will probabbly not be all that accurate. Of course in real world flying, the light planes I fly, do not hold too much fuel anyway. To have too much is not a problem, while not having enough is always on the back of my mind.
  18. Hello Lindy,Haven't talked to you since Pro Pilot days. :)This time of the year is generally the coldest part of the year of course, Out of St. Louis to Kansas City to Omaha, it can get very cold sometimes below 0F and expect a fair amount of wind. The roads are good, (Interstate all the way), and you shouldn't have much trouble, if a sudden winter storm does apear, it usually doesn't last over a couple of days. The road crews in all of these states do a pretty good job of keeping the major arteries open. I doubt if you would have to shut down or hole up in a motel for more than a day, at the worst. Watch the Weather Channel, for the last 2 or 3 days before your trip.I currently live in Oklahoma City, we have experienced an unusually mild winter so far this year, which doesn't hurt my feeling all that much. :DGood Luck
  19. After setting up your plane the way you want it and where you want it, hit the semi-colon key; In the dialogue box that comes up name the flight, put in a description if you want, (optional), then click the check box that says, "Make this the default flight". Save it and the next time you start, there you will be.You can do the same thing, by going to the menu, clicking FlightsSave Flight.
  20. Unless I am misunderstanding here, you need to go to OptionsControlsAssignments. This will allow you to change the keyboard settings for different instruments. Radios and such things.
  21. The nVidia drivers will work on nearly any nVidia video board.
  22. Any of the Detonator 3 starting with the 21xx series should work well, but so will the newest drivers. I suggest trying the 30.82 drivers. These are Detonator 4 driveers but they are very stable drivers and should work well with your GeForce 2. nVidia drivers are backwards compatible and will work even with the older Vanta boards. In my experience it really doesn't make too much difference if your system itself is stable, the drivers usually make little or no differnece. That is in my opinion only. Of course having said that be aware, I am always trying newer drivers, mostly for the fun of it. :DPS As Doug states below, the 1241 were thought to be the best and most stable drivers I had forgotten abut them :)
  23. Shut your engines down, turn everything off, set everything the way you want it, then save that flight, checking the box to make this the Default Flight. I always name this flight something descriptive and make it load near the top, so I can easily find it if I need to.
  24. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Bill Browning for his Oklahoma paint scheme for the Seneca V.Bill this is absolutely the best paint scheme I have ever seen. Thank you very much, it brings a tear of joy to an Oklahoma boys heart. :)Actually I am not into repaints all that much, only if it is a truely outstanding, that is to say an astounding repaint will I bother, I must say though that this paint scheme has been put on a CD for safe keeping. In case I didn't say it. THANKS!!! As a side note, I finished my BFR,(Bennial Flight Review), today. With winds 21015G23Kts today, touch and goes at Sundance were a lot of fun,(NOT). That is a crosswind componet of 15 knots, the C172 POH says they are not tested for crosswind component above 15 knots, so I guess I was right on the money. Nevertheless I got it done, good for another two years.PS. I wish I could put a screenshot here, you should see that paint scheme in 3D Sterographic, using the E-Dimensional glasses.
  25. Thanks Geof,Will be looking for the newer version, although I don't really care about multiple liveries. Having said that, I sometimes do break my own rule and get an extra livery if it is really spectacular. :D Weather in Oklahoma City has been rough too, but is starting to breakout and looks good for Sunday. (Double Crossed Fingers xx) I fly out of KPWA Wiley Post. You have about 2 more months of this to look forward to, in your area. I feel for you. Here, (OKC) a couple or three days of bad, and usually it will breakup and be OK for a bit. :)
