  1. Then you might explain to me why after a complete/name defragmentation and starting FS9, flying some hours and analyze the harddisk, my harddisk is defragged again, Dr. Prof John.I didn´t say that the bgl files are spread all over the harddisk, instead i tried to tell that member that organizing the files by name on the harddisk, access time will be improved and this will help to fight against the blurries. If the simulation tries to read a texture file but spends alot of time searching the corresponding bgl file, i think this will lead to blurries. And it is not just me who suggests to regulary defrag the harddisk, nearly all developers and others even here on Avsim suggest defragmentation.Ron
  2. Also very important is regulary defragmentation of your harddisk. FS9 tends to spread the files all over the harddisk in every session. I use a defragmentation software from O&O-Software, as the build in defrag software from WinXp doesnt make a good job.O&O defrags the harddisk with different modes which sorts your file by name, date of modified or accessed. I use the mode called Complete/Name, cause the bgl files from FS9 have a alphanumeric names.Hope this helps.
  3. Had similar problems after i installed a plane (freeware) that comes with an installer. The installer told me that i have to restart my computer. I did so and was never able to to hit the fly now button, the whole sim crashed. After uninstalling all the crappy gauges the installer put into my gauges folder all went fine.Maybe it´s just a faulty gauge in your gauge folder.I always got the message of an unknown module producing the error.Hope this helps,Ron
  4. That FSX shot would be good for Gothic IV.Ron
  5. you also restarted FS9 ? All views doesn´t work ? You have any other addon or software installed to FS9 that does take actions on the internal view system of FS9, like the F1 View util or Walk&Follow or do u use TrackIR?A bit more input would be helpfull to help You.Ron
  6. then it must be something that has global effects on fs9, like any bgl inside the addon scenery folder.Another good idea might be to check if there are any changes to the default dll´s in the module folder, some addons install changed or own dll´s there. I wouldn´t reinstall so fast, as it´s so time consumpting. If you have an clue what the default dll´s are named simply rename those dll´s that are not installed by FS9 itself.Might be also an missing texture file which causes the memory hole, but that´s need´s more detective work.Good luckRon
  7. if you had shortly installed some sceneries and then your problem starts, it might be a scenery problem. Just remember which one you have recently installed and try to deactivate it in your scenery.cfg or via the scenery library manager within FS9.If the problem still persists then it might be an AFCAD in your scenery/addon scenery folder. Rename those *.bgl´s to *.bak that you have recently installed and see if that helps. It might also happens that Landclass files (*.bgl) for any scenery are in the wrong folders. I read somewhere that those Landclass bgl´s must not be in a scenery folder which has also a corresponding texture folder in the subfolder.Ron
  8. Robert, have a look if your available memory also gets drained as soon as your frame rate drops. If so then it might be a scenery file (Afcad or Landclass *.bgl) that leads to your problem. Can you also confirm strange harddisk activities when your problem starts ?Ron
  9. yup, can agree that FS2004 simulates wing icing. When using FSUIPC there are several options that effects icing, on the clouds page one can set how icing applies. It also depends on the aircraft you fly. With the default C208 the wing icing effect can be seen and also with the B18 from Milton Shupe. I tried both planes with custom weather settings within FS9 to simulate extreme icing conditions. Both mentioned planes have devices installed to deice the wings. On the same conditions with the PMDG 747 there was no way to deice the plane. The actual ice weight/or if icing applies can be observed with the small little tool called AFSD.On the test with the PMDG 747 i had several hundred kilos ice on the wings and with all devices switched on i had no chance to eliminate the ice from the plane. On the B18 when switching on the de-ice button i could observe how the ice load decreases down to zero kilos.Hope this helpsRon
  10. Might be not related to your pedals, but i recently got the TrackIR 4 system and had erratic view movements while using the TrackIR. I tried everything to solve this problem, i even deactivated the Active Camera module. Nothing helps, until i uninstalled my Firewall (Agnitum Outpost) and everything went fine. Maybe your problem is similar to mine.Hope this helpsRon (the other one)
  11. Core Duo is the most standard today. Haven´t seen any computer that doesn´t have Core Duo, Core2Duo. This is standard today. And it is ACES/MS fault not supporting that technology.Bought some days ago Medieval 2 Total War and i´m able to play that game on my 2 years old Dell Inspiron XPS (Geforce Go 6800 Ultra) with just the Bloom and reflections disabled. Not any additional tweak applied like for FSX.You are also using trilinear texture filtering instead of any anisotropic mode, for sure just for performance. Anisotropic is a fps killer in FSX (only in FSX). Bilinear or Trilinear gives better performance but not so good image quality.Same with Water details on High 1.x. Your water looks only a bit better than in FS9. Of course i can also adjust my sliders to get good performance at the cost of quality. And i´m not the only one that thinks ACES/MS didn´t made their home work good.Ron
  12. Peter, the machine you have is up to date for all the new games that are on the market now and will be up to date for all games that will be released in the next time.It isn´t your fault that FSX runs slow on your machine, it´s ACES/MS fault. They didn´t understand how to support up to date hardware which is absoltely necessary nowadays. And i hope they will get punished for this.I for myself gave up on FSX and went back to FS9 which isn´t that bad compared to FSX. Be happy that your FS9 is running smooth on your machine ! As mentioned above, you can´t do anything against the slow performance of FSX (i sometimes wonder which machines the ACES Dev´s have used for testing and programming).Ron
  13. shouldn´t Step 5 before Step 4, just in case you type something wrong ?Would also add the line Barf_Bag = 1 in the smashed.cfgRon
  14. >How about if you stopped imagining, because you realised that>it would be required and got your hand in your pocket and>bought some of this fuel instead of complaining that it>doesn't run on your old stuff?>Because the reality is that it's available now, it's called>having plenty of RAM, a decent hard drive (or two), with a>fast throughput, an up to date motherboard that has ditched>AGP, and a decent pci-x graphics card (or even two bridged>together).i already bought a PCI express graphic card (Nvidia 7900GT 512MB) and a brandnew harddisk (SATA2) last week only for FSX. Processor(Pentium D @3.2Ghz) should be also fine as weel as 3Gb RAM.Didn´t know that DX10 graphic cards and Windows Vista are already avalable, if so then sorry !!! My comparison above was constructed on the fact that DX10 graphic cards and Windows Vista are not yet available.Seems that you have exclusive access to the mentioned hard -and software. Be lucky. I get something around 10-12 FPS at KSEA with not all sliders fully right and all the resizing packages available installed. Do you think that my system is to weak for FSX, if so which systems used the ACES developer during developing FSX when the recommended hardware and even the software are not yet available ?Can you live with a slideshow of 10-15 fps regardless where you fly in the world just to not to say that MS/ACES has released a not so good FSX when it comes to performance.Cannot understand why everyone believes that VISTA and DX10 will be the allmighty things when it comes to FSX. Is DX10 faster than DX9 or was there any difference in speed between DX8 and DX9? I think no, only the features has changed (Shader models, texturing etc) between the different releases.
  15. ... you want to buy a new car on your local car seller and the sales manager promises you that your new car will have a very low fuel consumption, only 0.5 L/100km but only with that new "next generation" fuel type, available next year.He also told you that with current fuel types your brandnew car will suck around 30 L/100km and if you want to have your car with that low fuel consumption it must be equipped with a special device that makes the low fuel consumption possible. The sales manager added that you have to pay for that additional device and that this device will reduce the effective horsepower output, which finally makes your car very slow.Due to the fact that this sales manager is a honest man he also told you the truth about that special "low fuel consumption"-device: Everytime you open or close your car, break the speedlimits etc some informations about you and your car will be send to the car manufacturer.Whispering the sales manager finally told you that this special device and that new fuel type are not tested yet (work in progress) and no one can say if both things will ever work with your new car, but he will give you a special discount of 30% if you buy that car today. What would you do ?Would you buy this car and hope that it will consume only 0.5 L/100km once it is equipped with that special "low fuel consumption"-device and that "next generation" fuel type is available next year ?Well, i did and i´m waiting for next year !Ron
  16. Thanks Douglas, that 1513 thingy was the problem.Structural De-ice (Wing Anti-ice) works now and ice can be eliminated with that.AFSD shows that the ice weight drops to zero as soon as the anti ice switch is switched on. Can this process slowed down as in real world, meaning it should take some time until the ice melt.ThxRon
  17. Hello everyone,I also posted this into the general forum without any response, hopefully someone from here can help me out.Does anybody know which entry must be present in an air file (*.air), to have structural de-ice enabled on a piston engine?I tried endless hours to implement structural de-ice onto the Alphasim Caribou without success.Structural de-ice (wing anti-ice ?) works perfect on the Milton Shupe Beech 18 and can be observed with AFSD. For testing i used the B18 airfile on my modded Caribou panel (put an anti-ice switch in here) and it works, but the Caribou can´t be flown with the B18 air file.Any help here would be niceThxRon
  18. Try to replace the word "DC3Gauges" with the word "douglas_dc3" by editing the panel.cfg.Hope that helpsRon

  20. Term of the year 2007 will be FIBER_FRAME_TIME_FRACTION.Ron
  21. try this: www.euroutepro.comHope this helpsRon
  22. when flying in europe try this one http://www.euroutepro.com/Hope this helpsRon
  23. the frame rates are very good, even in the virtual cockpit, the refresh rate of the main gauges (ADI,HSI) instead are not so good. I had expected are bit more performance here ´cause this is one of the aircrafts that has only one entry for the virtual cockpit in the panel.cfg. So the slow refresh rate of the above mentioned gauges must be somewhere in the code of those gauges.Ron
  24. ...or the groundcrew has forgotten to remove some tapes from those tubes.Ron
